How many basses

I used to have 17, but sold a bunch to fund a 2nd Fodera. This time next year, I will have 6 total.

When I get my Fodera next year, I will have 4 main gigging basses (2 Foderas and 2 vintage Fenders) and a 1983 Fender (belonged to Jason Newsted) and a Morgan Monroe ABG (present from my wife).

In Serbia, you're lucky if you get paid 10e for a gig, in most cases the club owner will tell you he didn't get enough profit to pay your band 50e...

This is a bass forum. That's why I am talking about bass guitars and not food or watches or houses. Where do people cut the line at 'too many'? Also, I've stated it above - the fact that some other people have much more of other stuff than they need doesn't rationalize bass players who hoard tens of guitars. If I ask someone 'why do you have so much gear?' the correct answer isn't 'look at this guy, he also has a lot of **** he doesn't need!'. That sort of moral relativism is childish at best and ******** at worst. The real answer would be 'I am addicted to this' or 'I just like collecting them' or anything else. Relaying attention to some other issue doesn't solve the original question. Imagine if people asked a politician how he got those 5 billions of dollars, and he said 'look, that other guy is stealing too!' and it's all fine.

"Deserve" has nothing to do with it. We're talking about a consumerist animal (humans). Those who have the means will typically indulge themselves in one way or another. As already pointed out, for some it's watches or cars, for others it might be basses.

I have a few. It's sad I don't remember. I buy and sell them so often. I think I'm down around a dozen right now.

1 Sterling By Musicman Ray 34 CA
1 Daisy Rock Star Bass
1 Waterstone Meaden 3 prototype( I think that's wag at its called)
1 W...... Bass with a tremolo
1 nameless machine gun bass.
1 kit bass I haven't built yet.
And several non bass guitars,
A studios worth of recording and stage microphones.
Amps for all purposes and shapes and sizes.

My wife is a very wonderful understanding woman.

I also have my EBMM Sabre Reissue arriving in the next week or so.

What can I say, I'm a sick sick man.

I own 5 pots and 3 frying pans but I rarely use more than one at a time. I guess I only NEED one of each.

Using your recent points, I should feel bad that I have too many pots and pans because others less fortunate don't have the luxury of a pot or pan?

I have two, but I want two more to complete my collection. I eventually want a 5 string with a maple fretboard, and a fretless of some kind. I used to be married, emphasis on USED TO, and the golden rule is that it's always easier to get forgiveness than permission....

I have, I dunno somewhere between 50 and 60 basses. I need every one of them. Some I haven't played in 10 years, and I still need them.
