How many electric basses exist in the world?

If TB has approx 320,000 members, there has to be at least 3 times that who are not on a bass forum, so there must be over 1,000,000 bass players in the world. Every one of them has at least 1 bass, at least 50% must have 2 or more and then there are all the mad people who have lots more!! I'd guess there must be at least 2,500,000 electric basses out there.

I don't know how many there are, but sometimes it seems like I have about half of them cluttering up my little house; the left handed ones, anyway...

i doubt 1-3 bass players in the world belong to tb
maybe 1 in 1000

this is going to be a high number
but what about all the music we never get exposed to
istanbul has a thriving dark metal scene apparantly
there are a lot of BSO's (bass shaped objects) in different cultures too

alterenatively guess what % of people play bass then divide by 3.5 billion

I know we'll never get an accurate count after 70 years of shoddy record keeping, but I currently own 10 and have been through about 20, and compared to many of you I have a small collection. So I'm guessing that the number is at least 4 figures.
