Neck-thru-body
Scale: 35”
Body: Ash
Neck/Fretboard: 5-pc. maple & walnut/rosewood
Inlays: Cold spiders w/name at 12th fret
Pickups: EMG 40-HZ set
Electronics: Volume, balance, EMG B64 active EQ
Bridge: ESP BB-605

Probably going to replace the electronics with 40DC's and a BQS.

That's a pic of the Vintage Re-Issue that being sold now. This goes to show how incredible these basses were. The fact that ESP would create a vintage re-issue, says a lot about the quality and demand for these basses. But, the most surprising thing was the PRICE they are selling it for.

They're making an LTD version of those now, at least I saw one at Frankfurt Musikmesse. Needless to say, I was like "damn" when I saw it. No 5 string version yet, though, as far as I could tell.

Just picked up a 1988 fretless ESP M-V, all black. Got 2 EMG J pups, 2 volumes and 1 tone. Does anyone know anything about this series of basses? I haven't been able to find anything online about them.

Just got a esp ltd 405 but it seem to be always be out of tune on the fetts went infact it tune on the open and 12th. do any of you guy have that problem?

Well I found the problem why it was out of tune the bridge needed to be moved back some. I end of putting on a new bridge, now it sound great. I got to say this bass has balls.

Here is mine ESP LTD F-204.
Made in Korea, as of 2003 specs (last year of production, best options&build quality). Last year they put good stuff: mahogany body, EMG electronics, ESP hardware and ESP logo on the truss rod cover
Mods: pair of EMG DC35, Gotoh GB-707 tuners, Hipshot A-style bridge, Graphtech BlackTUSQ nut, threaded inserts+machine bolts for neck joint, blackend fingerboard, DR Black Beauties.

It has a pretty cool sound, I havent heard other basses like it, though my setup may have something to do with that.

Love that bass, the guy from SYL played one for years and sounded incredible - well he did live, you can never hear him on the CDs!

You've got the strings going the wrong way round the posts though - the B, E and A strings should travel in a straight path from the nut. Get them the right way round and you've got one of the coolest looking headstocks.

Fist I would like to say thanks, But you can't string this bass like that the strings will pop off the nut. Thanks for the advice.

The Horizon was designed to be strung in the way I described, i.e. the B, E and A strings wrapping to opposite way round the posts, as the tuning mechanisms are themselves installed 'upside down', at least when compared to conventional bass design.

It's difficult to describe, here's a pic from the ESP Japan website shows what I mean. 4-string I know but you get the gist:

Byron Stroud's Horizon was strung in this way, as was Christian Olde Wolbers'.

The strings won't pop off the nut as they will then run in a straight path to the tuning post. Give it a go!
