Hey !! I have a ESP B-155 . I sanded down the finish with sandpaper because I hate gloss . And also its got lots of crakcs and bumps and scratches from gigging . I've put a new Bone Nut on it and a radiused ramp . I tune it E-C . I'll probably put a hipshot detuner on it sometime soon .

For the price , U cant really beat ESP in my honest opinion .

I originally started with 120 but it was ripping the finish so much some of the wood got exposed . I think 320 is as low as u wanna go if u dont want to get into the wood if there's a thick polyester finish on it . The D-6 I believe has a natural satin finish right ? I have no idea about how sandpapers are used in such type of finishes .

It's definitely not a satin finish. I have a Musicman Sterling and THAT has a much smoother finish than the ESP does; although, I don't think the Musicman has a satin neck, I think it's unfinished then oiled. I could be wrong though. The D-6 has a high gloss neck that's stickier than super glue to my fingers. I'll probably rub it down with 600 grit sand paper and go from there.

Just ordered a B-204SM. Anybody want to order anything Music123 is having a holiday sale with free shipping and no tax. GC wanted to charge me tax and shipping for the ESP and MF wanted to charge shipping. Got the 204 for $332, normally $369.

I bought one of the LTD Surveyors that MF was inexplicably blowing out for $299. I like the EMG pickups an awful lot, especially the 35P4. The pickups and pre-amp alone are worth about $299. I really like the Jazz-style neck, big frets, and satin finish. The swamp ash body looks great in natural light, but a little yellowish in fluorescent lighting.

I've owned a B-404SM for years, got it in a great trade deal. It's been my go-to bass through Warwicks, Fenders, Ibanezes, and so on. I ditched the EMGs for SGD pickups but the EMGs did sound killer live.

I just bought a black Surveyor 414 from Guitar Center for $254. Would have liked the natural but they were sold out. GC's blowing them out at $299 and you can get 15% off with the code LABOR15.

I just bought a B-404SM from Music123 for the Labor Day price. ESP was about the only make I haven't tried in the last 2+ years and I thought I'd give them a shot. I really like my Schecters and have heard some similarities between Schecter and ESP

My ESP B-305FM. Put some DR Black Beauties on it and it sounds fantastic. Currently set up BEADG but will soon be strung EADGC, seeing as I veryyyyy seldom actually use that B

I play my Ibanez EBX-445 and my squier P bass more then that LTD hunk of junk. might just sell it and get something else.

I have one of these too. I haven't had any real issues with it, and it's a good reliable bass. I get the sounds I want out of it.

You could always send that to me in the mail if you don't want it. I don't mind having 2 of the same bass. :p

As an aside, does anyone know what the fretboard radius typically is on an ESP/LTD four string bass like my Surveyor-414? I know it's not as flat as the 16" on my old Spector. I like it, whatever it is.

I have two 400 series fretless necks from the eighties (one rosewood, P-width w/ tele-style headstock, one ebony, J-width w/ standard Fender-style headstock) living on Franken-jazz basses at the moment. They've both been on many different bodies over the years. The rosewood P-style is amazing.

I had a 400 series J-style in surf green for a while. Early 90's I think.

Thanks to KramerBassFan, I now know that my '80s Kramer P/JJ fretless was also an ESP... I just didn't know it at the time!
