I absolutely love CDs. It's the best medium for music. In fact, I received Rainbow - Down to Earth today and it's playing right now.

I've been having some discussions about recording for the purposes of providing merchandise. Five out of five bandmates, when asked, said they have no way to listen to a CD. My sense is maybe that's true for most of us.
My husband still has a CD slot in his car, but that's the only way I'd be able to listen if I really wanted to.
How about you? Would you be able to listen to a CD if you bought it from a band you liked? Or would it just be a mercy-purchase for support, that you'd never be able to hear (I do lots of those).
Just to clarify, you can vote home. This is really to capture people who either can, or cannot, comfortably sit at home and hear music from a CD. I put the car option in because I knew someone would say that's all they had, but the real purpose of the question is "can you listen to a CD in the comfort of your home?"Home and Car, both used regularly.
(which means I didn't vote, sorry)
One thing I'm wondering about, too. Most of the people I encounter in music are about a decade younger than I am, so that may skew things. They're also the ones telling me that their CDs don't sell at shows.
Our older folks still may have the things they've always used, whereas younger folks may be less inclined to do components in favor of streaming. But who knows? It's an interesting question.
Yeah. A lot of younger folks want the downloads. The trend is to have everything on the computer, smartphone, laptop, iPad probably because it's easier to handle versus a lot of discs. Doesn't take up any space and easier to access. Not to sidetrack the thread, but this mindset includes photos, financial, medical records, etc. No more paper either.
I got something very much like this. I didn't set up anything elaborate, and I used Windows Media Player to do the ripping. Once I got it working the way I wanted, it was just a matter of putting the CD's in the drive. I also let WMP go online to find the track names and cover art, which I had slight misgivings about because of my privacy, but decided I'm unlikely to get arrested for the music that I listen to.This is what I would like to do. Just need to get the converter to do it with. None of our computers has a slot for a CD anymore.
