How many rigs am I actively using?

Three, and all three are normally used every week.

At home:
Amp - Peavey Firebass 700
Cabs - MarkBass Traveler 151P & 102P
(stays setup, never goes anywhere)

*Note: on my Mesa / GK rig I'm also running a Shure wireless system as well as a Laney Black Country Customs "The Custard Factory" Compressor > Way Huge "Pork & Pickle" OD/Fuzz > Sushi Box "More", 2 tube preamp. My other rigs, no wireless, no FX.

Just 1 is in active service, a GK MB212 combo. It hardly ever sees action though, most of my gigs are ampless.

I have a little Ampeg BA108 that mostly collects dust at home.

Not sure if this is a “rig” but my gigs are almost always through an HX stomp, DI and a pair of KZ I -ears.

Actually 1.5. I voted 2. I use one of two basses. Fender Player Jazz Bass and Squier CV60 Precision Bass. Fender Rumble 100 V3 for amplification. I also have two active basses but they remain in the closet.

There’s no actual number of ‘rigs’. It’s kinda just mix-n-match depending on the situation. Mostly it’s my 90s Ampeg 2x10 PRO series cabinet with either my GK 400 RB, MarkBass, or Ampeg B2 rackmount, but the TECH21 VT deluxe always goes into the effects return so the sound of the amplifier is actually irrelevant. For bigger shows I’ll add an Ampeg 115, or bring one of two different Amps 410s I have. Rarely do I bring my SVT 2 PRO. Often times though there’s backline SVT with 810 which is great. Last night they had an Ampeg 410 waiting for me with some newer GK head. Again, the TECH21 goes into the effects return.

Zero, ampless in the home studio and whenever possible for the occasional gig. If I play out and there's not adequate PA I've got a GK micro head and neo 1x12 that punch above their weight.

I checked “one”, but it looks like I should have checked “three”. My gig rig is an Orange Terror Bass 500 with 2 OBC-112’s, but in the rehearsal studio I use an SVT-7 Pro thru a Carvin 4x10. At church, IEM’s and a Sushi Box London Underground. At home I use the Terror Bass or a headphone amp.

For the once in a blue moon rehearsal or the smallest of gigs I will use my old Fender Rumble 100 combo. Doesn’t sound particularly great but gets loud enough and I bought it for $50 so fine by me.

For all the main stuff it’s my Genzler setup all the way. Nothing this rig can’t handle in my gigging world.

I answered 3. My setup that I use the most is my Arkham Beast paired with an old B-15 double-baffle cab. Just about sonically perfect for my tastes, though I do wish the cab were less cumbersome.

If I'm in need of more firepower (outdoor gigs or just for fun) I'll pair the Beast with my Subway 215. It's absolutely incredible, just a little overkill for most situations.

In the studio, I bring my B-18. It's still got the original transformers and the original factory power tubes (or so thinks my amp tech) and it sounds wonderful.

At home:

The practice desk generally starts with a Sadowsky Outboard Preamp SBP-1, with a tuner, then to an A/B Switch…

For most of my club dates, I’ve gone to a GK Legacy 112, with the option of an additional 112 extension, depending on the size of the venue.

Of course, there are the uncommon gigs on big outdoor stages, for which I will take a Bergantino NV610T, if appropriate.

It’s not super cut and dried for me, with a number of good cabinets and amps I let the gig decide as it were.

That said, my main rig, which I use for rehearsals and most gigs, is a Mesa D-800+, a fEARful 15/6, and Fearless F112. I used it last night at a theater gig, “Thankful Dead”, with about 500 people in attendance. We were the middle band in a 3-band bill, I let the bassist with the first band play through it. He loved it, loved the clarity and the depth. The sound engineer also loved it, loved what was coming off the stage and what he was getting from the DI.

Sometimes I use the Mesa or a Quiter BB-800 through just the F112, or through just the 15/6. I also use the Mesa or a Genz Benz Streamliner 900 through a tiny Acme B-1, which I just love. At a pickup “acoustic” jam at work I use a Hartke HD 15, which sounds way better than it should.

Essentially I use four:
1) The Acme Low-B1 w/ Quilter BB800 for cocktail jazz.
2) The Bag End S-15D w/ a c50W tube head for medium duty with an old school vibe.
3) The Bergantino HDN210 w/ B|Amp for medium duty with a modern vibe.
4) Both medium cabs stacked for the full 800W @ 4Ω to cover larger dances w/o PA support.
I've tried various permutations of all these components. Some work just fine, but others are notably compromised. (For instance, the Acme is pretty boomy & inefficient with tube power.)

I’ve used both of these rigs with only one cab for small stuff. Usually just with the Quilter, the Shuttlemax only sees use with multiple cabs.
I have other cabs that I use at home, for rehearsal or really small gigs:
Yamaha BBT 110 (great cab, a real sleeper)
Ampeg Pb 110 (much different flavor from the Yamaha, but also a great cab)
I have used both of these with the Shuttlemax or my EA 500 head and they made an incredible mini rig of doom! Mostly with the Brazilian band, where space was at a premium but I still needed to bring the boom.
I also have a Bose S1 pro that I have used for busking and small drumless gigs. It’s an incredible convenience and sounds far better than it should with bass. Recently, it’s been pressed into service as my stereo system in my shop, so I may start looking at other battery powered options when money is less tight for me

I use three. I have enough stuff for more. So here goes:

1) Mesa WD-800 w/Eden D-210-XST cab for 95% of my gigs that have FOH support in a Motown review band and all rehearsals

2) Eden Rack amplification system including Eden Navigator preamp Furman power supply, Sabine tuner, and an Eden WT1250 stereo power amp powering the Eden D-210-XST and a D-210-XLT used for outdoor performances or extremely large venues.

Number 3) is the same cabs a #2 with the WD-800 instead of the Eden amp rack for when I’m lacking ambition but used for the same kind of gigs.

I will say #2 is the best sounding rig I’ve ever owned.

Did you change out the speaker in the B-15?

The reason I ask, I was looking for a higher-output B-15 cabinet to run with my bigger heads. I had an empty double baffle can so I did the thing some of us tried to do. Loading a random speaker in a cabinet. Some sort of 300-watt Eminence speaker in it. It worked but the weight of it was horrendous with that cast frame monster adding to it. It was then I decided to look into the Mesa gear.

MOST EBG GIGS: Quilter V803, Barefaced Big Baby 3

ADDITIONAL GEAR (swapped in where needed or desired): Quilter BB800, Acme Low B-2

I'm not really all that finicky, but these days I dislike bringing any rig that's a lot bigger than the situation requires. So I try to "right-size" (sorry for the corporate-speak).

Main gigging bass...old, passive, 4 string, Fender Jazz.
Backup bass...passive/active, 4 string, Elite Fender Jazz.

Main gigging amp...GK MB Fusion 800.
Backup head...GK MB500.
One or two (depending on what is needed), 210 cabinets, along with FOH support 100% of the time.

Ampeg BA115V2 combo, it stays parked at the bands rehearsal area.

Now that I'm up in years and have a bit of disposable income, I have four-or-so rigs.

Speaker cabs:
Bergantino NXV210 and NXV112 - my new go-to for gigs, usually both but sometimes 210 alone
Bergantino NV610: Best cab ever made IMO, but too much for most of my gigs
Reiner sealed/ceramic 2x12 - sweet cab, but rehearsal only (for now)
Reiner 1x12 (x2) - my gig cabs for 6 years; one woofer is blown so on the shelf (for now)

Amp heads (may eventually sell micro #2 or 3):
Reiner VHF700 - boutique with all-tube preamp, tops for pure tone but I don't always risk it at gigs
Darkglass MT900v2 - micro #1, my favorite onboard distortion
Fender Rumble 800 - micro #2, solid backup that gets some gig time
GK Legacy 1200 - micro #3, recently acquired. Solid backup that gets some gig time

Combos:
Fender Rumble 100 - has been used at rehearsals, even a "coffeehouse" gig or two
Fender Rumble 40 - go-to combo for home use

I have three . I use an Ampeg BA108 for learning new songs . I have an Ampeg PF 800 with a 15/6 cab in the basement to play around with . At practice/jam night I have my Shuttle 6.0 with my Faital loaded 115 cab and a 112 cab .
