How many square meter do I need for a workshop?

    Hi, great site.
I'm planning to have own workshop for making double bass. But I don't know how many square meter (or square feet) it needs. Now I'm making a violin in a tiny room which is about 3m*4m, but obviously it's not enough for double bass. If you have own workshop, how large is it? And at least, what kind of equipment do I need to start?
    Thank you.

The shop I am currently building is going to be 18'x20' which is roughly 5 1/2 x 6 meters. But it really depends on what is going to be in your shop. There is no standard.

  3. I've thought about this in the past and I reckon you need about a single car garage worth of room just to work in. You'll need a work bench in middle of that big enough to fit the whole top on with room to spare and room for a bandsaw. I reckon you could just do it in your 3x4m room, but you'd have to move all misc junk out somewhere else.
