Your windshield in your Toyota is small compared to the one in the Hyundai. Not only that, but the windshields in the newer cars with dual front airbags must be strong enough to hold the airbag in case of deployment.

Actually, Mike, the real reason is because it's a Hyundai. And Hyundai is an acronym for Hope You Understand Nothing's Driveable And Inexpensive.

Or you could use that 3M window film (be sure to use the blow dryer on it to stretch it out). That baby ought to sing at highway speed.

Cracks in windshields always grow...

First of all, saran wrap will eventually tear;

Second, 3M window film can be a bear to keep from rippling and make it hard to see through...

So... to keep the crack from expanding, take a small drill bit and drill a hole at each end of the crack, like one would on a cymbal to keep the crack from going any farther. Then take duct tape and tape the entire crack over to keep the moisture out. WAZZA! Cheap fix!

Hey, move to Texas- 90% of the cars here have cracks all the way across the windshield. I think it's a factory option for cars sold in Texas...

Actually, most of the cracks here are from people rolling their windows up all the way and parking in the hot sun all day. When the air inside heats up, it expands, cracking the windshield.

Rule #1- Leave your windows down just a hair, so the expanding air in your car can escape.
Rule #2- If it looks like it will rain and you don't want to leave your windows cracked open a bit, put your A/C on Fresh Air, rather than Recirculate. That way, the air can still escape.
