How much TV do you watch and what?

Ever since before the last Presidential election circus, I have had zero tv...no cable, too. I only have Netflix and YouTube. It is glorious.

With that said, I maybe watch a few hours a night. My Netflix faves are documentaries, horror, and comedy, mostly, and my guilty pleasure on YouTube...Cobra Kai.

I haven't owned a TV for many years, and I don't stream or download either. I do watch DVDs though and probably sci-fi and sword-and-sorcery are in the majority, but I also have a fair few film noir flics plus some of my favourite comedy shows. I own 2 music DVDs (Björk and Led Zeppelin).

I don't have a tv but I like to watch cartoons and silly dry comedies online. The office, curb your enthusiasm, Archer, king of the hill, UCI road cycling races summer and hockey games in winter.
That's about it for the last 6 months. My friends and fam. typically introduces new ones to me.

15 hours/day:

Stargate: SG-1
Andromeda (Gene Roddenberry)
In the Heat of the Night (Carroll O'Connor, Archie Bunker)
The Talk (CBS talk show with Sharon Osbourne)
Charlie's Angels
The Jeffersons

that's just in the daytime

family-time:
Wheel of Fortune
Jeopardy
The Goldbergs
Fresh off the Boat
Black-ish
The Big Bang Theory
Young Sheldon

Law enforcement & military drama:
SEAL Team
SWAT
Blue Bloods
Chicago Fire & P.D.
9-1-1
Law & Order: SVU
F.B.I.
NCIS: New Orleans

now for hospital drama:
New Amsterdam (greatest new show in a while!)
The Resident
The Good Doctor

Just for fun:
Charmed (reboot on The CW)
Haunting of Hill House
The 100

I'm dropping sitcoms to watch on my own & holding onto one-hour dramas.
Some I've given up on:
Manifest
The Walking Dead
Magnum P.I. reboot
not sure how much longer I'm going to keep tuning in to F.B.I. on C.B.S.

So, I guess the question would have been answered more quickly with, "What do you NOT watch?!"
If something decent comes on Comet TV I'll watch, Fido was on today (domesticated zombies) & I've watched the original Max Max about 3 times in the last month.

How do you squeeze in time for TB? ;)

More than an hour a day is a lot for me, because life.
Netflix is our go-to, with Vudu in second—what's keeping us from cutting the cable, I don't know.
Currently chipping away at "Gotham" and "Lilyhammer" when I'm solo.
Mrs. and I are alternating between "Shameless" and "Queer Eye" (and sometimes "Portlandia") depending on our collective mood.
And when my son extricates himself from the shed (he's trying to get into Berklee) we watch "Ken Burns' Jazz" or "Monty Python's Flying Circus."

I'm really inconsistent. Some days I'll watch a couple of hours, then other days none at all. Mostly I watch Netflix or Hulu now. I figure if I'm paying for it then that will get the bulk of my attention. I sometimes see a few minutes of news in the morning but that's just because my wife has it on. I get my news almost exclusively from the interwebz. I have been known to binge watch a thing or two.

Outside of baseball and football seasons I do not watch a lot of TV. Cable is just getting out of hand price wise so I "cut the cord" almost two years ago now and currently just have a couple antennas for my TV's for basic over the air channels. It's usually very (sometimes) hit or (mostly) miss a lot of the time with those though. With Winter around the corner I may use my Roku and subs to Netflix, Crackle, etc a little more though.

I am falling behind on my TV viewing. Currently backlogged with the following ready to be watched:

"Daredevil" - Season 3
"Star Trek: Discovery" - season 1
"Legion" - season 2
"Westworld" - season 2
"Maniac" - season 1
"The Handmaid's Tale" - season 2
"The Walking Dead" - season 9
"Cloak and Dagger" - season 1
"Marvel's Runaways" - season 1
"The Leftovers" - season 1 - 3

I'm currently in the middle of:

"The Venture Brothers" - season 7
"Doctor Who" - season 11
"Ash vs. Evil Dead" - season 3
"The Gifted" - season 2

And I just finished up:

"Fear the Walking Dead" - season 4
"The Haunting of Hill House"
"BoJack Horseman" - season 5

Coming soon:

"The Orville" - season 2
"Agents of SHIELD" - season 6

And stuff my g/f and I watch together to pass time sometimes:

"Modern Family"
"Tosh.0"

The problem here is that there is more TV to watch than I am willing to give time over to. Between work, playing bass, working on my band's upcoming album release and being a new homeowner (yardwork and home improvement projects), days at a time will pass without my turning on the TV.
Wow! Got tired just reading that.:)

Probably about 2 hours a day, mostly winding down in the evening.

We got rid of cable TV about a year ago and just watch things via Netflix, Hulu and Amazon now.

My other half likes cooking competition shows, medical dramas and crime dramas. I do watch How to Get Away With Murder, Grey's Anatomy and sometimes The Resident or The Good Doctor with him.

Series I follow are mostly the superhero-based ones (no shortage of those now), Doctor Who, Castle Rock...probably one or three others I'm not thinking of. I also like some of the series on Netflix about architecture and cosmology (How the Universe Works, etc.).

I usually sort of "vet" potential new series or movies by looking up their IMDB score - if it's really high, I figure it's probably worth a try. Did that with Ozark and Haunting of Hill House and was not disappointed.

I wasn't sure about Ozark the first episode or two (I admit watching shows about organized crime and drugs usually feels like examining the contents of a sewer to me). Somehow the turning point was when Wendy got out of the family minivan holding that dead possum, started winding up like a major league pitcher and flung the carcass like a missile at that Langmore kid standing on top of his trailer house. Made me laugh so hard I stuck around a while longer and got hooked.

It is of those experiences I imagine many/most of us share as kids. In my personal version, we are kids at summer camp. The campers in each cabin are to sing a song for some manufactured event our parents want us to experience. Anyway, we all put our heads together and collectively decide to sing Felix the Cat. Our counselor is a musician and she absolutely, positively refuses to learn the song. Once I learn a piece of music, it is learned forever and I don't want to know the melody to Felix the Cat.

We settle on a song she knows that we also know. Forgotten what it was. Didn't forget what I saw.

And I see this still. While idly noodling I notice my fingers just pick out the Hershey's chocolate jingle. And I know it's all in there, uncounted hours of television I took in as a child. It is true that I also had my record collection (ha!) and a saxophone with school band and all that. The realization I hold the ability to pick out the melody of the Soft Soap jingle from The Flintstones is the tipping point. It's all in there.

I take responsibility for what I put in my head. Pulled the plug on the TV in my home in 96 and was pretty well down to watching only The X-Files by then.

None of this is to suggest there isn't good stuff on TV, or TVs are bad or the like. Mine is a personal decision and I turn my attention to other things.

Given up regular TV for binging Netflix. Lots of spy psycho thriller cop shows and foreign language highbrows with subtitles. Can't stand to watch the regular stuff anymore.

Good luck to your son at Berkley! Where do you find "Ken Burns"? I find it hard to find music informational programing on television. Just AXS.
