How much TV do you watch and what?

Being retired I have more time on my hands and refuse to spend the rest of my life in front of the"Boob Tube" wasting the rest of my life away. I train bird dogs in the morning and practice my bass in the afternoon. I watch AXIS a fair amount, home improvement shows and cooking with my wonderful wife. I watch just enough news to keep in touch with what's going on in our Country (another discussion for another place). I find myself listening to PANDORA when I'm not doing anything else. How bout U? :)

I never watch TV. I haven't watched TV for at least the past 20 years. It has been incredibly liberating!

None. Life is for the living ;)

At home? almost zero TV. I do fart around on my computer and play violent video games. Does that count?

At work? Usually 2-3 hours between dinner and bedtime if we don't have any calls.

I spend my other time doing home repairs, playing bass, or woodworking. I just finished a badass solid oak bar top that I stained with guitar dye from Stewmac mixed with vodka (I love telling people my bar top is stained with alcohol!). I also built a 2" thick solid walnut kitchen table. I managed to have enough walnut scrap that is just the size of a bass body blank... don't tell the wife. I've only bought bass bodies before, never made one from scratch.

I'm retired. I have a self-imposed rule about TV: None before 4PM. Usually it's around 5-6PM. I will not turn on the TV before those times. I fill my days up with other activities including being outdoors a lot, and other hobbies and projects.

I catch the local evening news, might have WoF and Jeopardy on as background noise. Catch up on whatever I'm watching on Netflix or Amazon Prime (currently bingeing on Man in the High Castle). Total daily TV on time is typically about 5 hours. Out of that, I'm only really sitting and watching maybe 1-2 hours.

TCM - Old movies. The silent ones are a glimpse into a world that none of us ever knew. Before special FX you needed a story and a plot to entertain audiences.
Boston Bruins Hockey - Go Leafs Golf!!! :roflmao:
Comet - Cheesy B, C, and D minus flicks that are so bad they're good.
Jeopardy!
Cinemoi - Lots of interesting, obscure foreign films.
Top Gear - With Jeremy, James and Richard. That's gone.
Sherlock - TV in Britain must be fantastic. All of the shows we see from there are like movies.
Elementary - How they keep this fresh within the confines of the premise is impressive. Very entertaining.
Axis - Some great concerts.
Aerial America - A bird's eye view of places we haven't been to yet.
Going RV - Getting prepared for our next move.
The Red Green Show - Twenty year old reruns are still better than most new shows.
The Olympics - Worth the wait to see sports not usually available to us.

Still recovering from shoulder surgery, so I've spent more time than usual watching TV. With the DVR it's easy to record multiple shows simultaneously. That means I won't miss the overtime game winning goal in favor of The Shiny Atonal Diva Shrieking And Contorting Show (Sad Sacs).

My wife and I are more oriented toward streaming (Netflix and Amazon Prime) and the recording other "broadcast" shows we like: SNL, Modern Family. I can't remember the last time we watched a prime time network show in real time. Who can sit through the commercials?

I also DVR the Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead, though my wife does not watch those. She's a "Real Housewives" and "Grey's Anatomy" fan, and that's when I get some good bass practice in, lol. I like to watch live Philly sports too, mostly the Eagles and Sixers. If I had to estimate time, I'd say about 90 minutes an evening and I make a conscious decision not to watch anything until about 8pm. Any earlier seems like a waste of time to me, for some reason.

Believe it or not, we've been binge watching every episode of Friends on Netflix. Our kids were young when that originally aired and we never got into it. I have to say, it is pretty damn funny.

I probably end up watching two or three hours a day on average, typically sports (huge NBA fan) but I love comedies like South Park and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia as well. If I have time to channel surf I usually end up on ESPN or Comedy Central, sometimes FX or whatever is on. And I have soft sport for reality TV, the challenge is the greatest show on TV and you cant convince me otherwise

I mainly watch music vids or instructional music vids when it is just me. With the wife we have our 'shows' to watch, House of Cards, Mayans, AHS, and so on. TV I think fall under any entertainment device, Phone, Tablet, Computer and so on.

I have Friends on every night as I fall asleep. It’s not because I’m watching, but because my brain will not otherwise let me sleep. I’ve been through the entire series many times and reference it in most of my lectures. Students just stare at me, “What do you mean we were on a break?”

Very little, unlike Mrs. basscapes, who loves her regular round of Wheel of Fortune and can't seem to get enough of whatever Guy Fieri has cooked up.

I tend to watch a lot more tutorials on drumming, in order to more fully understand HOW drum parts are created (all this to create more realistic, and humanly possible) drum parts on Superior drummer.

Along with that, simply put, I don't have the TIME to watch a lot of TV; my work commute takes an average of 4 hours a day, 5 days/wk (besides 35 to 40 hours/wk I put in as an Electrical Eng. Technician for a large medical equipment company) ...

I like the Dan Rather interviews on AXS. Also like some of Austin City Limits.

For TV, maybe 20-45 minutes once or twice a week, usually with the family. We might watch a rerun of Monk, The Donna Reed Show (Seriously! Having a girl and boy 15 and 12, it's almost like they wrote the show around my kids - 60 years ago...), sometimes an Andy Griffith. On a rare occasion, we might watch a Meat Eater on Netflix (I also hunt, so it's fun).

That's about as much as I can sit still.

I do watch some Youtube channels. Some days none at all, some days an hour's worth, and rarely a whole lot more. 95% hunting/outdoor/4x4 stuff. I get tired of it, though - just like TV.
