Should I strip down my 2010 Squier CV-P in sonic blue and paint it black?

What do you think you should do
I wouldn't but only because I like that color and I would add if you mean strip down the paint to go black no, strip the hardware and rough the current finish with sandpaper so the black paint has some tooth to bite on, oh by the way great color on that bass. ;) Big fan of "Crafted in China" CV's.

Personally, I like the blue but we're talking about an inexpensive bass here (and I'm not suggesting anything about its quality or playability by that statement, more just pointing out that it's neither a big investment nor anything rare or difficult to replace) so you should do what makes you happy.

About 25 years ago I took a 1986 Fender Japan P-bass (then only worth about $250-300) to a local auto body shop and had it painted. The owner was a guitarist who painted his own kit guitars.
The bass started out candy-apple red. I don't like red guitars. I had him paint it a Honda metallic green. Sacrilege? I dunno.... maybe. I don't care; I still have it, I still gig with it and I still like how it looks. The paint job has held up great and still looks really good. If I had left it red I almost certainly would have sold it and I would have missed out on years of playing a bass I really like.

You don’t have to strip down the original finish. That would be a lot of unnecessary work. You already have a sealed body. Just rough up the original finish with some 400 grit sandpaper, thoroughly clean off the sanding dust, and shoot it with the black paint.
