how to avoid drinks & stuff placed over my amp?

Thanks for all the replys, I dont want to leave the space, I can't expect the owner to back me up and I cant talk other bands into respecting my amp because they don't seem to "see" the point...and I have better things to do than hide all day on the rehearsal space... though I'm starting to contemplate a "warning" that includes their equipment and human feces :ninja:

Any way, things being they way they are, what I need is to find a solution that will speak directly to their lizard (drunk-ass) brain and makes them NOT put anything over my amp... Cover+ inestable top (cable mess, foam or something weirdly shaped) is the best idea so far... I keep fantasizing about a top of nais with the words "share my hepatitis C" sprayed over it...

Drunks around gear is never a good idea. One little spill=ruined amp or at least a very sticky amp. Either way, you lose. Since they can't respect your equipment, I would say to either get a cover, or have your bandmates back you up in telling them to stay off the equipment. Threatening to make them pay for damages may not deter everyone, but some people may rethink their decisions if money is involved (particularly their money).

I can't take the amp, I don't want to leave the space and I can't stop being anal. Bed of nais and angled piece are the best ideas so far!

Yup just wait for the revenge. Live with it or take your amp home.I had a guitarist who would put his junk on my amp when we'd set up.When I was young and angry I would have thrown it on the floor to make the point. I would just move it to his amp. In the circumstance you are in, you can't control everbodys' actions short of being there 24 hours a day.

Throw a pile of misc. stuff on top of the cab= surge protectors, ext. cords, etc., then cover it up with a waterproof tarp from wal-mart. Then secure the tarp with something, rope, clips, small padlock, whatever. The disrespectful douchebags will most likely NOT find it worth the hassle to uncover the cab, and move the stuff underneath, just to use it as a beer holder.

You're going to have to make a horrible example out of at least one of the offenders. If you leave his head and hands sitting on top of your rig, others may think twice about putting drinks there.

Or you could just not leave your rig in harms way.

I Think leaving a head and hands on top of the rig may be worse than leaving them to it . . . be smart. Get them preserved in something or at the very least double bag them.

Or not. If you can't keep them under lock and key in a room - a solid case would be the next best thing. After that a cover should be strongly considered for a shared space. at the very least do like xgator4u suggested and cover it in something like a waterproof sheet that's a lot of hassle to remove and put back.
