how to avoid drinks & stuff placed over my amp?

Hi!

My situation right now: I'm rehearshing in a space shared with 3 other bands. My bass cabinet is there and people, ignoring multiple complains, keep using it as a table, placing drinks & stuff over it.

Does anyone have a solution for this kind of issue? I can't hide the amp but maybe putting something non-flat over it?

thank you!

Greetings from the North,

If they can't respect that don't leave it there or.......buck up and get your own space. I hope you don't lose a speaker before you move out because there's always some idiot that tends to abuse equipment that they didn't pay for.

Put a sign on it saying THIS IS NOT A TABLE!!!.

This, and I would leave a very sticky Slurpee on another bands amps with a note saying that until they stop using your stuff as a shelf you will continue to use theirs as your Slurpee depository.

If you can't do that, take it home. If you actually rent the space, contact the owner and explain your issue. He needs to enforce it, not you. Also, contact the other bands and ask them not to do it either.

Since your concerns have already been shown indifference, you know the following will happen. A leaning rig will be put upright. A spiked board may get malicious damage. And an angled board, unless permenatly attached, will get moved.:scowl: So you could throw a blanket over it & make a table to fit on top, a piece of plywood slightly larger than your head/cab w/1x1 edging on top for spills (caulk or paint to contain liquids) & bottom to fit around the head/cab to hold it in place. Yes it's a little involved but easier than moving your rig every time & offer piece of mind. And since your dealing with lazy, disrespectful people they will use the table not move it. Hopefully.:)

1) Get a cover for it.
2) Place something uneven or irregular on top before covering it.

The uneven/irregular item should prevent them from placing
stuff on top -- particularly drinks.

The cover should protect it and prevent them from monkeying
with it. In my book, pulling a cover off of someone else's
equipment is a violation. It's like going into someone else's
toolbox without permission. You just don't do it. Violators are
delt with harshly.

dont leave your stuff there...

As far as "being less anal", all I have to say is the one time I decided to be less anal about this the guy spilled beer all over my amp head, that was the end of that particular piece of equipment.
