How to deal with a slow-to-respond cab builder?

This type of thing really upsets me. I had a custom bicycle frame built for me and a similar thing happened, it was a mess.
I've been using Don from LDS for all of my cab builds. He's delivered a quality product every single time. He calls me to tell me if something might be delayed, like out of stock tolex. I really hope low lifes don't push prospective custom cab buyers away from honest people.
Every penny of mine cabinet related will be going to LDS.

Pardon my cynicism, but doing a good job for you, someone who posts a great deal and whose word carries a fair bit on TB, might have simply been a strategic way to regain momentum and get many more orders that can be filled with vapor, lies and moose excrement.....
Not sure how many mooses (meese?) Are in Connecticut but there's definitely lots of excrement involved with AoN...
He did a good job for me also and I am a nobody.
but from what I understand, I was one of the last ones to receive anything of quality (which was about 11/11 so I have owned it for about a year).
I am having some speaker issues now and removal is proving to be a bit of a problem but when working properly I thought the cab sound and construction were both top notch.
I'm not sure what the dynamic was there at all. Seems like a moot point, since things seem to have gone very badly since then. That didn't seem to be the dynamic, but again, who knows what goes through these guys heads. I was a bit nervous ordering one, given the mixed press on AoN, but he was the only one doing the composite stuff at the time, and I was interested. I think I posted originally that I was viewing this as a 'science project'. Luckily for me (and I assume the person who bought the cab from me... sold it due to not liking the tone that much versus anything wrong with the construction), it actually was pretty cool.... stupid light, and sounded, well, like a fEARful 15/6!
Again, hate to hear about this, and always hate to hear about guys getting screwed. Seems like at least TBers will be warned against using Robbie again for anything.

Greenboy's Authorized Builders are also top shelf guys who do fantastic work.
I wouldn't hesitate to buy from anyone of them.
One thing is for sure, its a great time to be a bassist. 20 years ago you'd either have to buy the commercial cabs at GC or build your own.
My only gripe with Robbie was the constant delays in build time ( he had run out of operating cash ), and the promises to " ship next week " excuses, but, when all was said and done, the cab I got was as promised with no flaws, although this was not a fEARful, and that was in July of this year. Something really bad must have happened to his business, or maybe he just never recovered from being in the hole financially, and got in over his head with promised cab builds.

Have you opened the cab?
I've read about connections made by just twisting wires together and drivers glued in with JB Weld.
Wondering if this was common practice or isolated instances.

Nope, never had any reason to, and as I supplied the exact plans ( from 5Stringpocket's build ) to him, I just assumed he would follow the plans. The cab has been my backup, so , not much use, but everything seemed to be working correctly. Maybe I should look ?
I notice that the Art of Noise website is finally gone, and he stopped responding to my emails at all, even to make up some story about how I was eventually going to get paid back. I guess he made off with my money for good,, and probably other people's too. Anybody heard about them recently?
