How to deal with a slow-to-respond cab builder?

A word of warning for anyone who has recieved an AoN cabinet:
A guy just posted in greenboy's forum that he thinks he's blown the woofer in an AoN cab...but can't remove it...seems that Robbie epoxied it in. Maybe because of problems with the woofer coming loose in some of his earlier builds.

This shows the need for another sticky folder to warn potential victims not to deal with this guy, like the Dr. Bass folder. Apparently there's also a fake website for Flite cabs, a defunct builder, that's an attempt to lure victims. Maybe a sticky with a title like "FRAUD ALERT: Don't buy from AoN (Art of Noise), Flite or Dr. Bass."

Hmm. Well he certainly is promoting the fEARful cabs, over any other cabs he builds ( he does do other speaker cabs, btw ), but nowhere does he claim to be an authorised builder, at least anywhere I can find on his site. I think he needs a business manager, because he does build very good cabs, and I have used one. His financial side of things leave alot to be desired, though.

I had a similar situation with the individual who is listed at the top of the Amps Forum (see Sticky) a couple of years ago. Never got the cab, but sent payment through PayPal and was able to get my money back.

But when you mentioned the 45-day clause, that rang a bell with PayPal. I remember filing my claim within the 45 day window and was able to get my money returned.

Just a bad situation to be in, hope you can get back something.

I don't think AoN is still accepting orders for fEARful cabs. I could be wrong, though...that's happened once or twice before. :p

My take on the website is that he hasn't gotten around to taking it down...just like he hasn't gotten around to fulfilling orders and/or refunding money.

That's why it's a good idea to use a credit card, even through PayPal.

My experience was also with AoN. Bottom line, Rob is a piece of ****. If I hadn't used a CC and got my money via disputes, I would have taken a trip to see him in person. Violence is usually never the answer, but I'm pretty fed up with these custom builders stealing the hard-earned money of customers with little to no consequences. I was ready to do what was necessary to get my money back.

Our stories are almost identical. The cabinet I received was incredibly horrible. I have a long thread on the GB forums about it, with all the details and photos.

And I'm not saying you should go find him and beat him up, but I think some of these guys don't really realize the extent of their actions until they are face to face with someone they ripped off. I would harass the **** out of him. He is on facebook. Find his phone numbers, address, etc and just harass the hell out of him, and let him know it will go away once he returns what is rightfully yours.

Threats and whining do nothing. File small claims cases against him - his name, not Art of Noise - in a court near you. He can either defend all the cases or suffer default judgments that will show up whenever he does anything that calls for a credit check. He will some incentive to resolve these matters and less ability to repeat his alleged actions.
