Thanks for the reply SDV. Sadly I have the same issue there that I had with Stewmac and LMII. The size is very thin. Oddly, LMII had some backstrips that were the perfect size, but only had them in ebony bound on both sides with basswood, which defeats the purpose.

I don't want to bring my personal build too far into this very informative thread, but thought that it may be relevant and useful to all if there was a source with 0.250 X 0.125 strips of ebony ~ 30" long.

Seems the best place to go is Mikey's scrap bin!

I personally like cutting from a larger piece, but ebony isn't cheap.

I bought a nice ebony board from Allen Guitars. Only bought from them once, but it was a good experience. They have a few different sizes.
