How to make a combo less boomy?

I picked up a GK MB115 and am on a 30 day return trial.
This weekend with a rehearsal and a show i will know for sure if it a keeper.
One thing that is worrying me is the boomy sound of it.
I have eq'd the hell out of it running it at home but i can see this may be a future issue.
Is there anything i can add to the cab to stop this?
And if so what will it do the sound of it?

^^^This. Boominess is often caused by where you place the amp in relation to hard walls, not by the amp itself. Move it away from hard, reflective surfaces and try it again.

Those GK combos are boomy. Some people like them, but if you don't like the sound, try some other stuff and compare. What they have going for them is that they are affordable and loud. But I found that no matter what you do with eq, there is a certain built-in sound that's hard to get rid of. I got rid of mine and got an Ampeg B-100r combo, which I love.

I should mention I have the MB115 and I did find it a bit boomy when I first got it, but the GRAMMA helps, as does careful placement and a bit of bass roll off (I set bass at 9-10 and mids / highs at about noon to start). I really dig it now.

Commander Lo-Buck says to elevate the combo 2-3 feet off the floor. Plop it down onto a chair, milk crates, etc. This way the mids and highs are aimed more at your ears and you lose some of the low-end coupling with the floor. Give it a try, total cost is nuthin'
