Double Bass How to make a video with transcription?

Hi all,

I'm interested in posting one of those videos where you hear the recording and the transcription flows along while it plays. I've been doing some transcriptions and I thought I'd try to give back a little. In the past I've loved the Jazz Capacitor for example (by Dave Fink)
Does anyone have advice for how I might do it?

Take a look at Blender - free, intended as 3D software, but it has good video editing features

Basically the notation has to be made into screenshots (Shift+Command+4), brought into iMovie, and then placed into the movie at the right moments as a picture in picture. This video explains it well.



She uses static pictures. If you want the pictures to Flow, then use the Ken Burns effect in the L-R direction and adjust the panning speed to match the music tempo.

Slightly different solution here, but all free. I thought it would be easy, but you have to jump hoops. I downloaded Musescore 3, and opened the transcription in a page window (not continuous, it enhances geographic orientation) and dragged the window to four bars wide, one system high. It was zoomed about 200%. Then I hit play to see if it's set up nicely. It is hard to describe, but you make small adjustments - the effect you're looking for is to have the music scrolling smoothly and with good readability. I used another free screen-capture program (Mac has one built-in to OSX) to screen-record the window as the score played back at the correct tempo. Then I imported that recording into the iMovie project containing the original performance. I think I used one of the PIP (picture in picture) modes to place the score at the bottom of the screen. You spend some time synching the two (performance and score) videos together, but if the tempo is solid it should be easy enough to set and forget. Doing this as a once off is exhausting especially if you are starting from capturing a good bass sound in your DAW, but once set up it could be quick and easy.

I have a good experience with OBS Studio (free) on PC. Their web offers the MAC version too.

What video editor do you use? I used to make such subtitles in movavi, a pretty good video editor. I have been using it for a long time. You read about it here Safe Multimedia Software | Movavi So far I have not found the best. If you can advise some better editors, I will be glad to receive a motivated answer from you.
