how to sound like Battles?

I'm not sure about Pedals, but he has a quite obscure Amp-Rig.

Watching a live-video o can see some Eden WT-Head, a G&K 800rb, an old svt-2, for speakers i can make out a marshall 4x12 cab and some beat-up looking cab for the eden.

There's also a Echoplexx rack-unit.

Found some info on other forums:
line 6 DL-4 and a EHX holy grail

Also, there's a blue boss-style pedal

awesome band!

ive seen them 4 times and im always blown away.

i cant add much to this thread other than i have seen him use a red digitech whammy bit in songs like atlas.

he does a lot of looping and pitchshifting and plays with reverb and modulation a fair bit.

for the example the intro to race out (last song on mirrored) is played on bass... live he starts playing the bass line which doesnt sound much like race out, then he loops the bassline, speeds it up, plays around with the attack and decay of the notes, pitch shifts it and voila!

i believe they have 3 gibson echoplexes wired together so that they are sinked up... i think that this the most crucial part of there sound.
i know dave konopka has a bergantino nv610. he may also have a guitar 4x12 and marshall head.
as they don't use monitors, i believe i read that one of the bass rigs is actually for John Stanier (drums) to get blasted with the loops from the echoplexes.

Dude... good luck...

Those guys are very... interesting... so many effects and little intricacies... I watched a vid of them... I saw many rack mounted things, keyboards, samplers, loopers, guitars, bass, pitch-shifting vocals.

OK if you want to be like them:
1) spend about 10 years being an effects junkie with a lot of money and tons of free time to spend putting different things together and trying out many many combinations to get everything just right.
2) spend 10 more years getting into keyboards and synthesizers and all that crap.

then you might be on the right track...

I'm just making **** up, but **** it would take a long time to get as good as them at this stuff...

FWIW, I think your band is already doing some really interesting stuff. I wouldn't dilute it with any overt-Battles-isms.

Or hyphenated prefixes and suffixes, for that matter. :p

hehe, thanks! yeah, the only song we have on our page is very basic compared to the stuff we're working on right now. We'll be recording again over christmas so keep a look out.

Thanks for everyone giving their input!!lol
