The Nux Mighty plug!
Great for silent practice. Plug into bass, plug headphones into it and connect to ipad or phone or pc through
bluetooth to play along. Wireless in the sense you are not tied to anything. Your head phones are wired though and come out of the Nux thats plugged into your bass. $75

There are a few here who seem to specifically hate this advice to try a very popular (yet relatively expensive) string, hahaha! Nevermind the recommendations to try out a bunch of other things shared with no complaint. Folks seem to wanna single out this one idea to complain about.

It's cool. I had a great time playing my Jazz with TI jazz flats yesterday to an appreciative and mostly awake crowd of 5 senior citizens at a nursing home along with our young adults from church, lol! They're such fun strings to play and very uprighty/thumpy. Goes great with the acoustic-based music and style of songs we were playing.

Is this post for real? I see the emojis, but still. The people were really quite reasonable and respectful in their responses. TIs are love or hate, and certainly not a must have. I mean, they are a lot of money. I wouldn't recommend somebody spending some/that much birthday money on them unless they specifically mentioned wanting aspects of a string that fit the TI criteria.

Personally, I think flatwounds probably get suggested a little too much on TB in general anyway. They don't work for all things.

Earasers are my go to hearing protection. They're $40 and nearly invisible so you don't have to worry about how you look to the other folks. https://www.earasers.net/

On the other hand, you could get a Zoom B1XON multi effects pedal to play with. The effects aren't gig quality, but there's lots of amp models and other effects so you can see what you like and invest from there. It also can act as a headphone amp and tuner and drum machine. B1Xon Bass Effects Pedal with Expression Pedal it's about $90 with the expression pedal.

I have really good luck with plain old D’Addario XL nickel rounds on any Jazz bass I’ve ever put them on. I’ve not had a P in a long time so I can’t speak to that, but i recently chopped off a set i had as a spare for my j basses and put them on my Mustang and they are working out just fine.

Yes, D'A XL's work great on many applications. The line you quoted from me was my disdain for TI nickel flats, which to my ears do not sound good on Fender basses, and the A string is a useless rubber band.
