Huge Brian Ritchie fan from NH saying hi!

I've been playing guitar for a few years now, but I've always loved the bass. As a kid, it was Cliff Burton that really got my motor humming. Now, at 39, I'm flat out obsessed with the Violent Femmes, and Brian Ritchie in particular (I understand he posts here sometimes--so if you see this, your music has made me stupidly happy!).

I'm still mainly a guitarist, but I bought a cheap SUB SB4 and a Fender Rumble amp to goof around on. Learning bass has already really given me a lot of new insight into theory and composition. Talkbass is a great resource!

In my opinion Brian is hands down the best bass player. In my opinion, it's not his skill on the bass that solidifies him as the best player but rather it's the ability he has to write completely innovative, over the top bass lines, while avoiding sounding like he's just trying to show off his technical skills. If I could write bass lines half as good as his I'd be very happy. He definitely has a gift.
