Hi. I‘m upgrading a not-so-good MM style bass, and searching pickups for replacement. I find EMGs and others around USD 100 / 110 and the Seymour Duncan‘s “3 coil Music Man” around +200... Can someone tell me why so much price difference and wich are the advantages? I assume that ANY humbucker can be routed for single, paralell or series selection, am I wrong? What do the 3 coils do different? Thanks.

The 3 coil MM pickup is for hum cancelling in both single coil positions. It will also likely require extra routing unless your bass is already routed for the tri-coil pickup.
And no, not all humbuckers can be wired for series/single/parallel. Aguilar for example are hard wired for parallel.
