Yeah, I know what you mean. Same as long scale vs short scale.

The Mikro bass is 28.6" and it's definitely not as short as that. It's roughly around 29.3 and definitely shorter than the SG Bass at 30.5.

Whatever it is it seems to work fine. I've never had any intonation issues. The whole bass is a bit weird... But as long as it works I'm happy.

It’s a 1989 Peavey Foundation, with EMG p’ups and EMG 3 band EQ with parametric mid control, run at 18 volt.
Schaller bridge and tuners, artwork by my daughter when she was about 12. Pretty much every photo of me playing over the last 25 years, it’s that bass.....

My hunk o junk is this: NBD - Crusty Fernandes content I bought it for $30 and it was hideous. But after a quick setup, it played very nicely. I have since painted it with a brush and a can of flat black rustoleum. Looks OK from 10' away! It lives in the garage in the gig bag that came with it. Any time I'm selling an Amp I let the perspective buyer use this bass to test it out. All have been impressed

I have one! The saga of silly bass swaps.

I had a fretless Ibanez Roadstar that was a bit of Hunk-a-Junk in itself. I had it modded as a PJ, had the neck epoxied and it had a retrofitted thumb rest and a piece missing from the finish.

I decided that I'm done playing fretless, I want to go active. I exchanged that Ibanez for a LTD six string blind. That six stringer was just Junk. The previous owner did a hack job with the electronics and was hell bent on having a neck straight as a bullet, so it was severely backbowed. I swapped that junk for a Ibanez Soundgear five stringer that was a nice bass.

Then the fretless bug awoke again. I reached out to the guy who got my old bass. He, hell bent with the straight neck, had snapped the nut and I guess a piece of truss rod off of it. So that was a no-go.

I got a message about a no-name jazz bass, maybe a parts job, possibly a Harley Benton. I don't know what got into me, but I exchanged that Soundgear for that, had it defretted and swapped the pickups. Turned out it was probably a self-made bass. It has scratches, few cracks in the finish (I hope just the finish) and a very funky headstock.

It plays and sounds great, though, and has become my number one bass.

It came with a Harley Benton p body that has a paint job gone horribly wrong. I kinda love it.
I will try this fuggo tonight and then I'll possibly defret it. Might do it myself.

View media item 29840Recently picked this up as a temporary fill in for another bass while it gets refretted and refinished. I know US Peaveys don't usually qualify as junk but this one definitely didn't live up to the hype. Plenty of finger slicers and several high frets forcing abnormally high action. This thing showed almost no signs of any actual play time wear despite being 30 years old. It does appear to have been picked up plenty (and presumably put down again almost immediately) judging by all the paint chips on the end of the body. I have done a quick fret sprout cleanup and level/crown job so she plays pretty well now. Additionally, the bottom of the nut slot is clearly not parallel to the fret board and while it doesn't seem to be causing any issues, it does hurt me to look at it so I'll probably end up fixing that and cutting a new nut for it as well.
