I’ll just leave this right here

Norm Stockton: "Hold my beer..."

You know, I'm a fan of Norm, and I think somehow this video has made me like him even more. I just watched the video again and spent a good portion of it focusing his facial expressions...

I'm sure we've all been there at some point in time during our bass career, performing in the midst of a train wreck for whatever reason, with matters completely out of our control. The show must go on though.

What else can you do? Of course the answer is SHRED!

It does seem like the bass solo was planned for though... I like to imagine it came about something like this:

BK: YOU, bass - I hear you're some hot-shot bass player, show me what you got.
*Norm plays something tasteful*
BK: What was that? I could do that. Give me more!
*Norm plays something more complex but still reasonable*
BK: What am I paying you for? FASTER! DO IT!

This goes on for a few more rounds until Bobby feels like the now exasperated Norm is shredding worthy of his pay-grade.

In 1983 I purchased a beautiful Pioneer car casette stereo system. 100 watts I think it was, with separate amplifier and four speakers. I installed the bass speakers in the rear parcel shelf on floating plywood-over-foam mounts to maximise bass response from the car boot. I still remember the joy as my TOTO IV casette tape clicked into the player for the first time, and I listened to AFRICA - the song I'd specifically chosen to test the sonic attributes of my new set up. The sound was truly glorious.

And now this.

THANKS A LOT
