not really sure, but I am also a supporting member, and I was seeing toilet paper ads (of all things) before the new system change. These particular ads would take over a full 3rd of the TB screen. Extremely annoying!

I forgot what Ads are on any webpage since I use an ad blocker for the last 10 years...

This constitutes a major downgrade that was apparently "accidentally unannounced". I expect subscription fees to go up as soon as the fallout from the "upgrade" has subsided. I may not renew.
I am a supporting member. Advertisements subsided for me for about one day, and have now returned.

Seriously, though: Subscription or no, if you don't want to see ads in your web browser, use an ad blocker extension in that browser. Firefox with uBlock Origin is a hot setup.

TB has deteriorated into an advertisement hosting service (with some interesting content interspersed among all of the unwanted marketing).

Understand that a forum like this cost a good amount of money, Supporting and Gold don't cover the costs, but showing ads helps a lot. The perk of being a Gold Member is not seeing the ads. Realistically, the vast majority of people who use Talk Bass do not contribute any money, so ads are a requirement. I firmly believe in supporting the forums I use and always pay for a Gold level.
Ads pay for server space and site maintenance. AWS is expensive.
