ive been talking about it for months and I finally did a little test run today to see how it all works out. I got my bass, pedalboard, amp, and all necessary cables on my motorcycle and ready to gig!
Anybody have any stories of creative gear transportation to share?

I have done this before. I vibrated the input jack right out of my old carvin combo never to be seen again. Be sure to keep your bolts tight.

Did this in 1981. Hit a patch of wet leaves. Kept the bike up but realized that all my important worldly goods were in a pretty fragile situation. For that matter so was my life but that didn't seem to bother me then.
That's all I got.
But it is sure cool to have a great small rig.

Consider: a padded cover. A pebble or water will end a gig soon enough. Also, I suggest a strap around the other way as well. A big pot holeo or sharp bump do may push the cab backwards.

I suggest some side bags ininstead of a shoulder strap.

Sorry, I wouldn't want to risk it - too easy to dump. Fitting bass rig, bass, bassist, drum kit, monitors, and drummer all in a Hyundai Elantra is as adventurous as I get.

I'll definitely be getting a cover for the Rumble soon. They just seem to be out of stock at all the retailers.
Not too concerned about rain since I'm in Texas. But this is definitely a short trip type situation. I don't plan to be touring like this!

Did that once, a long 4-hour trip (played then stayed overnight, returned the next day) each way. Ampeg BA115 with a cargo net and gig back on my back. I am too old to do that nowadays. *sigh*

I can fit my entire rig in a Mazda 3 hatchback. Two PF115LF cabinets, gear case, class D amp, two basses, mic stand and two guitar stands, and a homemade standard sized pedalboard with room to spare. Not nearly as impressive, though, as some stories I've heard.

Hah. Back when I wasn't doing so well and didn't have a car, I would cram my combo and my bass in the case into a shopping cart and push it like 10 miles to the rehearsal room and back

I put mine on a skateboard, 2 milies uphill, both ways.

I've gone gigging like that, just using public transportation (subway) and carrying a Peavey TKO-75 combo with casters (some 15 years ago).

Assuming there is already some sort of support behind the amp (it is implied in the pic, but not 100% clear), I'd say a second/backup ratchet strap doubling the one you have there, and you're good to go. Human error can happen when routing the straps or ratcheting them up, but the chance of screwing up both at once is very, very low. I also might consider having the grille face backwards, as your gig bag and the wind might tear it up. And definitely get the cover when it's back in stock.

I used to do that, too! It was actually the easiest way of getting a heavy combo amp across that part of Sydney, stupidly enough.

Not yet, but just this weekend I got a new set of side-cases for my touring bike. Should make it a lot easier to move the various bits around, so I'll try that and report back.
...hey, I just realised I should be able to stick (most of) my Steinberger in one of the cases, so I don't need it strapped to my back! Sure, it'd be OTT for a 10-minute ride, but nothing exceeds like excess, right?
