I am beginning to find this troubling

Over time I am becoming both more at ease and more efficient in navigating the new TalkBass, but as part of that process I am noticing patterns that have me worried: (1) I am seeing a lot fewer new threads in "Basses" on both the BG and DB sides (the BG side barely records enough new threads in a day to get onto a second page); it seems like we have all but achieved stasis. (2) a lot of the more active threads like Gretsch Owners Club, Acoustic Bass Fetish Club, and Exquisite/Glarry/Burning Fire Club, appear to have gone dormant, with little or no activity for days. (3) a lot of our more frequent posters seem to have vanished or gone dark, and a lot of the newer posts are from names I do not recognize. I'm happy to see the "new" people, but I miss the veterans.

I’m still sifting through the wreckage. I wish there was a fast way to see just the new DB threads in one place. Chris Fitzgerald mention a way to do it last week(?) but I still can’t get there. I’m left just randomly wandering through all the DB forums and finding the navigation ok, but it’s tedious and of less value to me. Just sayin’

One thing I've noticed is that I am not getting notifications for watched threads consistently. For several days last week I just thought people were busy with the 4th holiday or something, but when I checked on my watched threads it turned out that they were busy and I just wasn't getting notices. So now I don't trust anything to work here anymore.

But at least I am earning "levels" and "achievements" and seeing lots of ads. So I got that going for me, which is nice.

I think the new look and feel is a bit of a turn off for many of the veterans you mentioned. I’m not overly enamored of some of the changes even though I fully understand the necessity and agree that it needed to be done.

That said, I have found myself posting considerably less (which some folks here will probably think is a good thing) and dropping by much less often. Possibly because TB now feels unfamiliar to me.

I’ll admit I’m only adapting to the new vibe slowly. And I don’t enjoy being here as much as I formerly did even though I can’t give any real reason why I don’t. But with luck that feeling of mild alienation will wear off over time and I’ll feel more at home once again.

Yep, I thought it was just me… but I think you’re right that some folks have disengaged post the upgrade.

I am also not getting notifcations on most of my watched threads. Was just going through my settings to see if I can figure out why not, but all looks the same for the one or two I get and the ones I haven’t gotten since then update.
I definitely used the notifications as “click-bait” for me to check in on those threads and reply/contribute. Not getting the notifications has definitely reduced my interactions on those threads!

I’ve noticed a lot of threads with only two or three replies, I figured it was just because I am seeing all new threads, as opposed to the “hot” or “trending” threads I would see before the update. Might be the reason, but it does seem like there’s less posting going on.
I miss the old home page for “Trending now” posts. The “Hot” post page doesn’t seem to work the same way.
Top post doesn’t always have the most replies, not sure if posts drop off the”Hot” page after 24 hrs like they used to, doesn’t appear to be the case.
24-hr dropoff ensured new content every day and post with most replies leading the list made more sense, to me.

I get notifications if someone likes my post or if they respond to my post, but for watched threads I just pay attention to the red dots in front of the thread title. That seems to be the only notification we get for that.

I feel the same as others have stated . . . "something is off" . . . "the magic is gone" . . . "like when your favorite local business get's sold and is now 'Under New Management' and it's just not the same anymore"

My engagement had been waning for various reasons anyway, but the new software didn’t or doesn’t remember my password and I had been too lazy to fix it on my limited downtime.
I’ve also seen more and more threads that seem like AI / bots and I refuse to engage them. It’s to the point where I can’t even give the benefit of the doubt if there is any question, I’d rather ignore a real newbie than waste my life wising up someone’s bot for them like I’m probably doing right now.

I do kinda miss feeling like I was missing out on something if I didn’t log in a few times a day. My productivity hasn’t improved, unfortunately.

Maybe I’m more sanguine about this than most, but I’m not as butt hurt about glitches and conversion hiccups as some here are. Technology isn’t perfect. I’ve converted office software and certain fields dont translate perfectly. Version one isn’t going to be as good as version ten. The Earth still revolves around the sun. I feel everyone just needs to chill, listen to some reggae or ska, and let them sort this stuff out. I’m sure they didn’t have the budget for this like a Google or Amazon would. We’ll be fine. Oh, and I just made Level 29 so I know what I’m talking about!!
