Wussy. I broke the same metacarpal in my right hand and went to work the next day. Using a hand saw was a b****, but after a couple of weeks it stopped hurting.
To be completely honest, I didn't know there was something you could actually do to brace it, but oh well. My insurance definitely wouldn't have covered it, so it wouldn't have mattered anyway....

This gave me a chuckle. Nice to have a sense of humor with things like this.Four screws and a plate in my wrist; ten screws, two rods and a plate from L1 to L5. Told my ex- I wanted to be cremated and if they brought her the jar and it did not rattle it was not me.
Oh I was working the whole time it was broken (HVAC service tech) but once the cast came off I just didn't have the dexterity I had in my left hand
