I was wondering about the storage part. Heard a few stories about units with gear getting hit. So make sure you tuck in them babies in a good secure place.

Now, the only basses that I'm flip flopping on are the Sabre and the Precision. I could take the Stingray and the SB-2, which both cover similar tones but with their own flavor.

Well, you have my sympathy. And, given the basses that you have, I'd have to agree with mdogs. Those are the ones I'd take with me, too. Personally, a Rick and a P-Bass are the only basses we have in common, but I certainly agree with the rationale behind this list. Enjoy Seattle, and good luck with your new job! :thumbsup:

I also want to mention that it is kind of silly to put things in storage unless you know for CERTAIN that it will not be there for very long. You should do the math, comparing the storage fees against what it would cost to buy all that stuff again on the date that you will realistically be taking it out of storage.
I made that mistake myself, paying probably about $6,000 in storage fees to store about $2,500 worth of stuff.
The issue was that I had planned on keeping it in there for 6-7 months and ended up keeping it in there for over 3 years. Once it was out of sight, it was "out of sight, out of mind", and not only did I find I didn't need it, I completely even forgot about it, except for when I opened my bank statements every month and saw the money disappearing from there. But I just couldn't be bothered with getting it out of there because I had nowhere to put it. In hindsight, I would have been MUCH better off to just donate it to someone in need.

Second that thought, secure storage is often times not.

Local guy just lost all his toys, kites, bikes, surf boards, wet suits, hockey gear, sups. All of it went out through the hole in the wall of the “secure” storage unit, cut by thieves who had plenty of time.

It was a truly astounding list of expensive stuff.

And expensive storage fees to boot.

As of right now, the MIJ needs a fret job, and the MIA is essentially perfect. That's the only thing that tips the scales in favor of the MIA. I don't judge where a bass is from as long as sounds good and plays well. The MIJ plays (or did until I beat it to death) as well or better than a lot of American made Fenders I've tried.

Sell the rest and get a proper MIG Warwick to serve as your 5 string. Everyone should have a MIG Warwick, especially if they have to live in Seattle.

+5 on the MIG Warwick! I used to have a Corvette 5 string which I Sold to get a custom bass. I soon regretted selling it and just recently acquired a Streamer LX 5! :woot:

Oh man, the Sound is so good! drool

I live in a small real small house and I have 12 basses, 4 bass cabs 2 heads a kybd, PK5a pedals plus all my stereo equipment in one room and basses under the bed lol... Just take em all!! Good luck!!

I bet you could store a whole bunch of basses under your bed. Just check and make sure of the fit of the box spring to the frame so there’s no chance of the mattress falling through. I’ve had to resort to adding wooden strips down each side with slightly undersized mattresses.

I wish I had five basses...

But in an effort to be constructive...

I’d bring:

Fender Road Worn Precision (cuz P)
Fender MIA Jazz
G&L L-2000 (for versatility over the Sabre...See below...)
Rickenbacker 4003s (cuz Ric)
Musicman S.U.B. Stingray
(keep the SLO and Sabre locked up at parents’ until the move is permanent, they are more rare than my choices to take. Maybe even replace the L2000 with a Tribute for the move and keep the USA at parents’ as well)
