I Can't Keep a Foundation

A friend of mine who inspired me to pick up the bass, also gave me an old Sears Silvertone amp. This thread just reminded me of how great that was, and how grateful I was, and the great things it led to for me. That was 35 years ago. Giving that kid a bass could be a life-changing event for all concerned.

On top of that...I'll bet his mom will be glad he's switching from drums to bass :)

EJ, the drummer, is really, really good, I can't see him giving up the skins. He is playing that bass, he told me today that he is working on his major scales and string crossing. He was telling me how hard Fed Hammond lines are too!:bassist:

Excellent job, Doc! Just what I would expect from you.

A few years ago, I gave my Peavey TNT 130 combo from the '80s (which still worked great--gotta love that Peavey durability!) away to a group that gives at-risk kids both a place and the gear to play music after school. I also sent a small combo I had sitting around to friends in Jersey who were short on cash and had a daughter learning bass. Both times, the recipients were very appreciative and it felt great.
