I can't take it

Yes, me. And there is no right and wrong on this thread.
You're entitled to that position, but there's still a lot of wrong in this thread. Mainly the fact that someone says that you can compare Nickleback to these guys, and then going so far as to saying they "improved" on their material. I would _love_ to hear Nickleback sit down and WRITE a song, instead of, oh, here, three chords, and YAY some crappy lyrics. Hm... have you even listened to the Beatles? Can you PLAY any of it, at all? I bet you can go look a tab up and read it, and "play" it, but it wont have the awesomeness that it did when they did it originally, AND it takes away from the fact that once again you're only copying, not being original. That's so not punk.

Beatles will forever be known in the history of music, and most likely history in general.

Nickelback serves a purpose in the entertainment industry. But then again, so does William Hung. It's okay to like them, but to actually think they are breaking any new ground, or even being creative rehashing the same crap over again is ignorant. Personally, I severely dislike them as much as the country of Portugal does.

Ehhh.....you really can't blame the asshat execs. They are all about making money. Nick and thousands like him get creamy panties over Nickelback, and buy their CD's, so the execs do what they are supposed to do, make money. That don't mean it doesn't suck, but it just.......is.

Meanwhile, Wet Wet Wet > Runrig, and I have actual statistical evidence to back me up!

(Can't stand Runrig, personally. Bon Scott's the only person allowed to play bagpipes in rock music, and he's dead for a reason...)

(and I'm ignoring the fact that Belle and Sebastian were voted #1, because they have scary mob-raising powers when it comes to this kind of thing. I think there's some kind of mind contr@#~

Belle And Sebastian are the best Scottish band ever. Without a doubt.

I dont think you can call any music 'bad.' For example, are The Tweenies, or The Fast Food Rockers and less music than say, Led Zep or Sabbath? I dont think so.

I dont know. Im tired.
You can call music bad, really. A lot is personal though as well. Also, you can say that those bands just don't have the craft of their instruments down as well, in that setting, as well as Sabbath, Led Zep etc. did in theirs.
Also though, bad music can be just that, bad music, no matter what. If I grabbed an acoustic, went beach-side to an open mic, sat there and strummed with random finger placement, that'd be BAD music. The kicker of it is, somehow that ---- is hitting the air waves.

Dude!! NicklebaCk iz the L33t fools!!!! The y OwnZ the Beatles!! ;)
heh.. actually I don't like Nickleback..
I don't like the Beatles either...
However, when it comes to influence and innovation, this is a stupid conversation all to gather...I don't think anyone is going to be listing Nickleback as a classic great in 30 years.
