I don't know why people hate on Fender bridges...

I ran into a few of my friends at a local guitar shop and I showed a bassist friend a picture of one of my newest P's which was a late 60's rebuilt. I was all excited and he took my phone and zoomed in to see that it had the original bridge and scoffed as if it was inferior. He tried to explain to me how much sustain I am losing. I was like, whaaaa?!!?

The bass is a beast, the instrument just sings and growls. I didnt know what to say, except I that I have no intentions of changing a screw on this thing.

I have no issues with the Fender bent plate bridge. I like them.

Every Fender Bass I own (other than a 1994 MB-5) has the bent plate bridge. I might get the vintage threaded saddles so adjust the string spacing, but other than that, I've never had a problem with them.

I have a '77 Tele and a '04 Aerodyne and the original stock bridges are rock solid. I bought a new "entry level" Player P-Bass and the bridge wouldn't hold intonation and action so I switched it out for a Babicz. No hate involved. I think people gat caught up in gear minutia to cover up their lack of ability/skill. If your playing sounds like crap it's probably you not the bridge. LOL

After my Dano, I will never hate on the bent steel bridge again.

Those bridges are the ones that deserve all the rap more than any fender or gibson or what have you, terrible from a design perspective and even the "adjustable" versions manage to be worse than the original rosewood. The best thing one can do with a danelectro bass is drill a fender style bridge and modify the head stock with actual bass tuners (another problem that deserves its own topic)
