I don't like it...

Key to getting a decent pint of Guinness is finding a bar that has a tap that is constantly in use. Don't ask me the reason why but like a lot of darker beers, Guinness does not sit in a line well, actually it sits worse than most beers.

They say the further from Dublin you go the worse the Guinness! It is true IMHO that the Guinness is Ireland does taste different to the rest of the world. Settle into a pub and Dublin and you will taste the smoothest, best tasting Guinness you can buy and usually from a tap that never stops!

Last night we had corned beef, Shepard's pie, Jameson, Guinness, Irish Coffee, and Irish car bombs.... Needles to say this morning was rough. Guinness is pretty tasty to me, and having 126 calories/ bottle is a plus in comparison for those of us who are trying to think about losing weight.

I've had many glasses of Guinness, so this isn't a decision that I made without trying. I just know that I drink what I like, and if someone buys me a Guinness (I never buy it myself) that I'll wind up sitting on it the rest of the night. Last night my buddy and I walked to a local bar to play some pool and get drunk. We drank about 6 pitchers. We moved through pitchers of Fat Tire, Newcastle, Sierra Nevada, then my buddy ordered a pitcher of Guinness. I gotta say I only drank one pint of it, he drank the rest. Just couldn't get into it. It was then that I realized I just don't like it.

Now my Dad, being a Brit, loves Boddingtons. I can hang with Boddingtons much better than Guinness. Still, some of the same things I don't like about Guinness keep me from drinking a whole lot of it.

I love a good guiness, but have been very depressed at the results in some "irish" bars. I second that I had heard it must be served at a place that cleans the lines regularly because otherwise it's horrible.

If I recall, the lamb & ale pours a good pint in London, but I would need some locals to verify. O'Briens in Venice, CA was my local LA go to on a Friday watching The Lads.

at least you gave it a try. I've tried every IPA there was to try, because a bunch of my buddies like them. I seriously just can't do it. I have noticed my beer tastes changing a bunch as I get a little older (I'm 23). I used to not be able to stand lagers, but now I can gladly drink pretty much any lager.

Yeah right now IPA's are pretty much my first choice.
Hey mine too. It's funny cause when my friends are trying to bribe me or give me a gift these days, it's with a sixer of IPA. Which usually gets me.
IPAs and Stouts are pretty much polar opposites. It's not a huge surprise that you don't like Guinness.

Stouts and IPAs are my two favorites though. I like most all beer, but those two will always be at the top of the list for me.
