What you want for set screw knobs on knurled shafts is those little filler brass cylindrical washer adapters. The come with some knobs (QParts), but are kind of hard to find, so I always order extra. Solves the "not centered on shaft" problem, and stays on better too.

With normal pots these are great but with stacked pots the knobs still wobbled slightly too much, and got stuck into each other. At least with THESE particular stacked pots. But like I said, they were very poor quality pots so that might have been part of the problem.

Seems outdated as mentioned earlier. As unfashion conscious as I am, I pick out some better alternatives. My biggest objection is why the designer felt a need to cover half of a really nice piece of wood with white plastic

But is that not one of the great things about living in a free society? You are not only free to choose colors you like for your musical instruments, you are also free to nitpick the color choices of other instrument owners.

As for saving the best looks for Fender, try comparing the ho-hum Fender Player series basses to the exciting Squier 40th-Anniversary line. The Squiers look far better.

Not only it looks good but it sounds amazing ! The one I tried was at least as good if not better than a 1980 Squier MIJ……….…..for 1/3 of the price.

Yeah, concentric are a bit of a different game, the cheap ones that aren't really up to physical spec tend to get wobbly or even "stuck" to each other.

Regardless of color, I never got those pickguards. Nice finish and half the bass covered. Sorry, not for me at all.

Sometimes its for looks, other times its for bass preservation.

I have to use pickguards. The way I play, I tend to claw my bass and scratch the hell out out of the coat. I used to have a chrome pickguard on my fretted Jazz. Twice in the 27 years I had the PG, I had it re-chromed because I trashed it. I now only use the plastic PGs. Easier and cheaper to replace.
