I believe in live and let live, but I agree with the OP and am not a fan of a white pickguard on a sunburst bass. Black or tort for me. So, I added a few stickers on mine to make it more palatable until I get a chance to make a new one.

Looks fine to meBut why? Why a white pickguard on the sunburstsome mods just don't work. View attachment 5395675
In practice all but the finest basses would then have a cheap plastic cover in the rear which looks worse IMHO.I don’t mean to be rude, by why a pickguard at all? Why spend the time and money to do a sunburst finish that shows wood grain just to cover it with a cheap piece of plastic? It’s the most ridiculous “tradition” in the music world. It’s tacky like wood paneling on cars and plastic on furniture… thank goodness those fads died. Now we’ve just gotta get rid of this ridiculous pickguard epidemic.
Is rear routing so hard so we don’t have to use cheap plastic to cover top routes? Oh the humanity! I weep for the nice finishes destroyed by pickguards and top routes.

^Historically accurate, even for a bass that didn't exist back then.?
Sire keeps on amazing me more and more !This one's definitely a repro, my Sire D5 I got myself in memory of my brother's bass...

Would really like a straight white pg on it though!
Update - just snagged the last white one on ebay at the moment, I think!![]()
Yup. I'm a Sire fan from way back at the start, but these new models and the Gen 2 neck treatments are just out of this world! Bang per buck for miles and miles!Sire keeps on amazing me more and more !
The look is so nice, finition seems perfect and their necks with the roll edges are just so comfortable !
Unbelievable for the price.
I had a clear pickguard on one of my basses for awhile, what I quickly found out was all the little pieces of gunk that’s on the bass will make it’s way underneath the guard and will get trapped there and would bug me everytime I looked at it .
