I tried and never could get a sound I liked out of it.
Super versatile bass if you like those tones, I prefer my P and J and 55-01 and Pilots. YMMV....
It does not do a P, IMHO.

I like mine just fine. It came from the factory like that and it rocks.

The OP bass in question, not to be rude, has the horn guard.

Exactly! All some these folks have to do is understand history by travelling back to 1954 when Fender veered away from a butterscotch body with black guard, to a burst finish with a contrasting white guard. 1950's color schemes, its classic to them.
I'm not a fan if white guards at all, in fact I hate the white pickguard on my all original '65 custom color Jazz Bass. But I know enough to just leave it alone.

It's probably a combination of the dark colour and the pointier horns of that pickguard, but that looks a hell of a lot better.This one's definitely a repro, my Sire D5 I got myself in memory of my brother's bass...

Update - just snagged the last white one on ebay at the moment, I think!
The bass in the original post looks as if it were dipped in a bucket of white paint. Whereas the aesthetics of your bass are much more pleasing to the eye.
The shape of the pickguard makes a lot of difference.
Everyone's got their own flavor. I prefer aged white or pearloid to clinical white in this case but with enough use that white would start looking worn in

Apparently you can "age" white plastic with coffee. Seems like a waste of good coffee though.
How about aged white pearl? Works for me!
