I don't mean to be rude

OP doesn't like black headstocks on green basses either (Boxers, BTW),
IIRC the "I love Fender, but..." thread, from last weekend ;)

Not to be rude, but I'm gonna anyway
Oh yeah, I rememember that thread as well, i didn't bother replying as many, many people pointed out the original bass had the black headstock. I mean, I have an 80's Jazz Bass Special and I think it looks killer with the black headstock. Same with this bass - but to each their own.

I wouldn't make a post, let alone start a thread, where I criticized someone else's choice in aesthetics for a bass, but hey that's just me. I don't like being rude, even with a disclaimer. ESPECIALLY with a disclaimer.

It's the classic "no offense, but (offense)" lead-in.
Exactly. In other words, the person knows that they are going to be rude/offensive and just doesn't care, and somehow, if a person reacts normally (i.e. is offended or calls out the poster for being rude), then it's their fault for reacting that way.

DISCLAIMER: This post is polite. And... maybe sarcastic? ;)

Not a fan of dis posts myself, but then again I like to get warm when I'm cold, and cool off when I'm hot.

Whenever I see Not to be Rude, or No offense, but...,
I just know it's gonna be of a rude or offensive nature,
but most folks play it anyway,
so it's really just fun lighthearted entertainment.
It is what it is :)

Lighthearted entertainment or passive aggressive BS. "Not to be rude" but Im about to do it anyways. You'll see it it all the time on TB and in life. But if you're straight to the point then you're the A-hole. I say, give it to 'em straight and stop being so sensitive. But then again, I'm inactive

It's simply a nod to the color schemes from the original single coil 50's Previsions. Look up pictures of early rockers back then and you see them with white pickguards, and often the butterscotch ones with black guards.[/QUOTE
But why? Why a white pickguard on the sunburst  some mods just don't work. View attachment 5395675
Im not a fan of maple fret boards! What nerve posting such a hideous spectacle!
