Feeling guilt over something you have no reason to feel guilty about is almost as bad as not not feeling guilty about something you should.

It's no crime owning something nice just because you like it.

If the guilt comes from comments and eye rolls when people find out or know how much they cost, just tell them:

'Jealousy is very unbecoming'

Its not a rude thing to say to anyone, more or less a polite way of shrugging off their comments!

You shouldnt feel guilty about playing a nice piece of hardware!

Yeah it's weird. I don't play a boutique but I get similar comments from one of our fans. He is always saying stuff like I love your tone but you have such nice gear etc. He said he saw my cab for 1400 at Sam Ashe, which there is no way it was 1400. It is kind of annoying. I don't mind getting compliments on my bass but comments about how much things cost are a bit gauche.

I answered in jest the first time, but I kind of feel you. Sometimes I feel bad even for having my MIA Fender when right now I mostly only do charity and church gigs, with a few scattered bar gigs. But I'm slowly getting over it. I can afford it and I can enjoy it, what difference does it make if I don't use it to make money.
I don't know if I'll ever buy a boutique bass, and if I did, I don't know if I'd ever let it leave the house... but it's still a possibility if my finances are in order and I play well enough to really use one. Don't feel guilty! Shoot, I'd feel accomplished. It means you're financially stable enough and/or musically talented enough to warrant one. Those are Life Goals!

Sometimes I go to car shows to remind myself that people put $$$$ into their hobby with no expectation of needing to be skilled, rich, or a professional in need of tools lol.

I do recall a friend of my brother telling my wife that I must suck at playing bass because my gear was too nice. She pointed out to this dickwad I paid for it playing gigs.
