Congrats. I use to really go for the lots of bass and treble type tone like when you engage the HIGH and BASS boosts on an Ampeg type tone until I got into a really hard rocking heavy guitar band (2-3) guitars sometimes. That tone cannot be heard in that setting so now I go for the more middy throaty growl tone, P-Bass meet Ampeg tone. Now I'm heard and I like it.

I had my signature tone for years... I called it "Blue Steel"
However, my new tone is almost ready and soon to be unveiled... I call it... "Magnum"

Do NOT tweak around with anything once you find it!!! It's very annoying to differentiate the reasons why you can't find it again. Is it the strings, your ears or one of the billion other things... I always make a backup of the settings before tuning further so I can at least eliminate variables that can be kept constant.

There have been many times over the years that I believed I found "my tone". Then the onslaught of variables took me out back and beat me up 'side the head:
