Indeed, the "Slab board" era was about the rosewood used for the fretboard. Don't get it confused with the general of 'slab' for electric bass, or even there are some UK slab Precisions that were made in a small batch run for England only, that had the 'modern' Precision shape and pickguard but no arm cut away and less of a radius to the rest of the body.

Dutch Texas accent - "She sure is purdy". Just by looking at her you can really say life wel spent.

As a young adult who has spent 2 years of planning and working for my dream Precision bass I can only slightly imagine how tempting it would have been to go for something "less". (No musical instrument is less then the other)
