I Finally Got It!

I feel like a real dummy because I just realized this bass is EADGC!
I am going to have to get a new nut for it!

I'd recommend just trying the new strings before worrying about a new nut. I've switched a few BEADG basses to EADGC without having to do anything but normal height and intonation adjustments. Chances are your bass was originally a BEADG anyway.

You’re right, I don’t to screw up a great playing bass doing something needless and semi-costly.

Just makes it that much sweeter. Play it well!

As a fellow Pentabuzz iwner, I’ve run the gambit of strings. My favorites? Pedulla Nickels (great feel but don’t last as long) or D’Addario NYXL (a bit more tension and long lasting)

Pedulla standard Nickels are more balanced sounding with a tad more presence in the mids. D’Addario NYXLs are really bright with a strong bottom end.

Out of the numerous other rounds, flats, and Tapewounds I’ve tried, these 2 are my favorite.

Dang, the Mark Eagan model is over $8,000! I know it is a bit different from my bass, but knowing that I spent so little for mine is just great!

But it doesn’t sound floppy as an E tuned to B would. Sounds pretty tight to me....unless that’s just how goddamn good that bass is!
