Same here, I played one once back in the '90s, still to this day I remember how nice the neck felt in my hands, if it had been the fretted MVP model I would have pulled out my credit card and would still be playing it today !
Let me know what you think because im on the fence about one right now lol. Lookin to buy within a couple months and theyre on my shortlist with lakland, roscoe, zon, stingray
Awesome! Try a low B string on the existing nut to see if it fits before you bother taking her into the shop for work. In any case, she’s worth it, and a true friend for life.

Like some others have said, leave the nut alone, it’ll probably work either way. My five string was B-G but it sets up fine E-C, no problem. As long as the open strings don’t rattle, it’ll work. And bit of plastic wrap will fix minor rattles at the nut.
I’d say, give E-C a whirl. Especially with a fretless. Take some time with setup and intonation.
I spent a long time with five strings set up B-G. But I’d spent decades on a regular four string. When I went E-C my brain sighed, nay, swooned, in ecstasy.
Finally, the E string was back where it belonged. And I had tons of extra noodle room. And bright, clear chords!
I’ve got sets of strings I used for B-G, so I could switch back with just a bit of set up: truss rod, saddles height and intonation.
Could be I’m just a four string guy, but the fiver sure is more fun for me with a high C. The low B never did it for me.

I’ve only ever owned 4-string. BITD when I was gigging I used to think that it would be cool to try a fiver strung e-c. I just never got around to it.

That is a beaut for sure but what REALLY caught me was the like count on that single post! It's the most I've seen for one post since the adoption of the "like" button.

I am humbled that so many people have wished me well for buying this cool bass.
I just ordered the owner’s kit that includes the trussrod. I looked current prices. If my bass is AA flamed maple, it would be $5,495; if it is AAA maple, it is $5,795. I don’t think it is AAAAA maple, but if it is, it would be $7,295.
Any way you look at it, $995 plus tax is a great deal!

I tried out a guy's 1990's IIRC Pentabuzz fretless (4-string) at a recording studio several years ago and I was stunned at the ease of playing it and the fantastic neck AND the sound was just SO SO SO nice! Damn, I wished it were mine. It was easily one of the very BEST basses I've ever held. Owner bought it new and he said he would NEVER EVER get rid of it. Yeah---you scored big time. I am pea-green with envy for you and that guy from years ago. Now go make yourself happy with it!! 
Here is a clip. Between what thought was E-C tuning and no frets, I am off just a bit. I plan on playing this almost exclusively to get my intonation together.

Oh man, if I could order up a fretless out of my mind it would be THAT bass. 19mm? That gorgeous color? That silly price?
Think about leaving it EADGC! It's a great tuning.
At the very least hold on to that nut for when you eventually sell the bass to me.
