Some may say this is an abomination but I found a good price here on a 70s jazz neck with hipshot tuners (unused) I couldn't turn down so I grabbed it. So what do you think, are the block inlays just wrong on a P ? I would have preferred dots but I actually like them. Of course I added a tort guard and also put a Fender pure Original 63 pickup in. This pic was right before I put LaBella DTFs on it. So now I feel like a total lemming but in all honesty I am a jazz bass and Dingwall guy about 90% of the time but I really needed a P-bass for, you know - that tone.
The beauty of Fender is that they their instruments are easily modified so you can pretty much change anything and most of the time it will work, like this case , it looks great!!!
It’s gorgeous! You basically built a Duck Dunn, block Jazz neck on a P body. you’re in good company, come join us: J Neck P Bass Club
Looks about perfect to me.. mine has a 1970 Jazz neck I picked up in 1977, my old Dimarzio and BAII from 1979, and an MJT body. Love it!
Yum. Tort + rosewood is a nice combo. Blocked and bound Jazz neck can never fail to impress. Classy top to bottom.
Call me tacky but I would've gone with a pearloid with pickguard. Tort looks good on it too with that lake placid blue
