I Hate Daylight Saving Time!

March 10 is WAY too effing early to start DST.

I know the powers that be don't give a damn about us folks in flyover country but in the Northern Plains we are still firmly in winter. NOBODY around here is out mowing their snow covered lawns or playing baseball on what are still ice rinks or cooking out... that's all at least a month away yet.

And yes, it messes with schoolkids' schedules something fierce. They don't want to get up for school cause now it's still dark again in the morning, and they don't want to settle down at night because it's still light at bedtime.

The logical and most parent-friendly thing would be to tie DST roughly to when most schools are out for the summer, i.e., mid-May to mid-September. That's when DST has the least disruption and the most value.

I am firmly opposed to your proposal. I quite enjoyed grilling carne asada on my patio last night while wearing a short sleeved shirt and flip-flops under a beautiful blue sky.

I don't mind daylight savings time, but it comes to early now. I see no point in long evenings when snow is still on the ground or it is still fairly chilly in much of the USA. My other complaint is that for the next two weeks or so, my youngest has to catch the bus in near darkness.

I thought it currently had something to do with the kids standing outside in the mornings waiting for school buses in the dark, which is not a good thing.

But personally I'm all for keeping the time the same all year around. Look at Indiana, they do it without any trouble.

not in my corner. Southwest Indiana ,during the winter I have to leave two hours early to drive one hour to get there one hour later....then when I leave the place I'm visiting I get home at the same time I left .....

I get pretty wicked depressed and lethargic when it gets dark at 5:00 PM, especially when I get home from working and it's dark (or better yet when I don't have any lessons until later in the day and I don't have to leave until it's already dark). I'd rather it be sunlight until 9:00 every day including winter.

agreed....

I am not a vampire.

Yes, "normal time" is November through March. Also, I agree. They could get rid of DST as long as they stay with this "normal time"

I like having the extra hour of sunshine in the evening.
I'm firmly in this camp. I hate when it gets dark before 6--and in December, it's dark by 4:30 here. I usually get up at 8, so it's light out when I get out of bed, anyway.
