I hate looking at my #1

My favorite feeling, sounding, playing bass is the one thing that makes my stomach turn.....sunburst. I've had it for 12 years. Gigged it everywhere. I keep one bass in my living room to just noodle around on when watching TV or if I have 5 minutes waiting for my wife or whatever it maybe. It's the only one I own that makes me cringe when I walk by. I'm probably not gonna do anything about it. I'm afraid to change bodies or even have it refinned because I love the sound that much. I just wanted to complain!

It's a poly finish. Getting a refin with poly finish will change the tone exactly zero.

I couldn't do it. If I loved a bass that much but couldn't stand the aesthetics I would have to get it redone.
It's really starting to drive me . Usually my Ric or my ray or one of my Ps sit down here and I walk by almost stop to take a good look at em. This guy.....I just turn my head. I'd love to have it a metal flaked version of the candy tangerine fender put out. Just can't seem to bring myself to send it out to get new colors. It's wierd.

You and I both need to grt off the fence.

I have a Fender USA 5 string P bass in the same boat. Plays great. Sounds great. Loved the burst/tort when I first got it. Now I'm over it.

I've been wanting to get a bass (like the fish) boat metal flake bass for years. What I need to do is pop all the hardware off of this one and send it to Wilkinson or somebody like that and get a refin.

Dude. That's where I'm at. Classic ranger or nitro z7 finish on a bass. Hahahaha bass and bass and the two things that run my life....also whitetails but they don't fit the narrative there

This bass will come back to haunt you one day.
No sir. I bought it with my very first paycheck when I was 15. Most of those stickers have a story. For instance...the red NOFX sticker...I stole off my now wife's binder the same year I got it. Was the first time we ever really talked. It's beat up, covered in stories and isn't worth it's wieght in scrap metal. I'll never not look at that bass and smile. For what it's worth, it still plays amazing.

I completely get what you're saying. She's your "Butterface" bass. ;)

While I love the aesthetics of an instrument, ultimately you're not the one looking at it while you're playing.
