I hate this place

Online markets are a bigger danger to my wallet, because while at the store I can at least notice if the feel/tone isn't exactly how I like it and the GAS dies down... Pictures of basses on Reverb however, I can just tell it's gonna be PERFECT for me!:rollno:
Well, this time I was a nice used Fender jazz, touched it, felt good, plugged into a rumble 500, centered tone controls, played it for a few, felt good, sounded good (which is unusual for me, I am not a fan of jazz basses) then. I played another fender jazz, then a fender p, neither sounded as good or felt as good as this jazz. Came back next day, played it more, made sure it was not some infatuation, still felt good & sounded good. 3rd day same thing, So it bought it. Picked it up yesterday because of the 30 day rule, playing it at my gig tonight

I stopped going there years ago. I went in for new guitar strings when I was attempting to really learn to play guitar. I played a couple display guitars and was proud of my playing. Then a guy came up and picked up the same guitar I had just put back and started playing Stevie Ray Vaughan. And very well. I decided I really didn't need new strings. Just more talent.

I dunno about hate, but I was at the OG location, on Sunset in Hollywood yesterday, and I found it somewhat incongruous that, above Geezer’s Dan Armstrong, there was what appears to be a rendering of Snoop Dog. Must be something about the sweet leaf.

I was in the one in Cherry Hill, NJ last week and there was a 14 year old trying to break an E string on a P bass copy, and there was a Surine 5 string lined fretless right behind him. I REALLY wanted to try that bass, even for just a few minutes, but the `14 year old and his mom were blocking it. IT's way out of my budget at the moment but still, how many chances like that do you get?

My son has found a couple nice guitars there. I rarely play a bass that I have to have. I did play a really nice Fender Ultra Jazz II 4 string Texas Tea finish at a GC in Phoenix on vacation last year. Otherwise I am usually underwhelmed. There have been used trades that I have liked. My local store (an hour away) had a really nice Roscoe LG4 that I was tempted to pick up but decided I had enough Roscoes.

Had a chance at an Armstrong, but it was a private sale. I tried to contact the owner numerous times but when I got through, it was gone. I did have a chance to play it - it was nice.

I've always GASSED for an Aerodyne, the old design MIJ with the pickup jack in a pocket on the front, black body, chrome knobs, white borders, you know the one. FleaBay was populated with 'em, but I never could pull the trigger.

I have 7 basses and a UBass. I play them all, sporadically, but my main is still my first one, an Epiphone pbass clone, the Accubass Jr. Heck, it is a beginner bass but it plays WAAAY beyond it's price point. It holds a tune for weeks as well as the intonation and setup. The neck is perfect for me - the frets came nicely finished. I did make some mods to include lining the pocket with copper tape and adding a ToneStyler pot. I have ancient flats on it, and it never fails to bring the thump, and it can sing a crazy tune when I need it to.

I realize I'm a lucky man, and I'm grateful. Of course, YMMV!

I hate this place every time I come in here to pick up some strings. I try a guitar I can’t do without. Is there any help? Therapy? 1-, 800 number to call? Link RemovedView attachment 7313409
I have been editing my gear there... Trade in... since everything I have was a deal and most items needed repair, and what was offered by GC was a better price... I have come to the conclusion that sweat equity pays off, plus I am real close to clearing out old gear and decluttering at the same time.
Beats the heck out of consignment and offers instant gratification!
