I have a problem with cover/tribute bands.

To me this argument is pretty irrelevant, but it may become completely irrelevant 30 or 50 years from now, when our aesthetics views change again.
Back in the day, peeps like Handel or Bach were putting out covers of tunes. To this day, their "covers" continue to be adored and "covered" everywhere around the world, not to mentioned that those guys have come to be considered some of the influentian people in the history of western music. And I just chose the first two that came to mind.

Miles, Scahamo, Bird, SRV, T. Monk, Glen Miler, the Dorsey's, Lady Day, BDylan, Coltrane, ad infinitum,,,,tell me who didn't cover somebody? This is great music, why shouldn't I play it for the public, especialy when they as for it? |My ego isn't that big, is yours? OBTW, send me your first album/cd/DVD I'll slide it inbetween my Beethoven and Bach

Do you realize that by sticking with plain old grape jelly, you're just covering what someone else has done before? Be original man, and mix it up!

I grow my own elderberries. My original intention was to make wine, but I know a guy who does that already, so I decided to do something original and make my own elderberry jam from scratch. I got the recipe from my mother in law.

Yep, I agree. Especially now that it's been decided, apparently, that cover bands are, in fact, worthless, and original bands are really where it's at. (personally, I don't care---I've done both, enjoyed both, and don't give a hoot what other's think about it)

Yes, IMHO, there is nothing better to put on toast.
