I have a theory about maple fingerboards

Really, none of this is adding to the discussion at hand. VinKreepo, you have made several incorrect assertions. If you would like to discuss them further, drop me a PM, I'm more than happy to have a conversation about it there, but currently, I'm interested in the discussion I'm having with Brad, and would rather this thread wasn't locked until we have concluded that discussion.

I'm trying to get it locked haha... note my previous post titled THE TONE CIVIL WARS.

You realize your "discussion" has gone on for pages and this thread needs to die like all the other tone war threads?

It's ridiculous.

Yet again, you've missed my point entirely. I'm not saying things don't happen, I'm saying the things that DO happen are not caused by magic, voodoo, or whatever else non-explanation you wish to provide. If they exist, they're measureable and explainable.

Speaking of missed points, did I say that you are saying things don't happen? Hint: Look at the quote again.

I didn't say anything was caused by magic, voodoo or whatever non-explanations you seem to be dreaming up from misreading my posts.

And you only quoted a small part of it this time.
:hmm:

I'm saying no one seems to be measuring them. Do you disagree with that?

I'm saying the complete live experience is not captured by typical recordings nor is it immune to playback foibles. Disagree?

I'm saying your requested measurements could have very little bearing OVERALL on instrument construction.

Read the words yet again. If you still don't get it let's leave it be. Maybe religion is a better tangent to run with after all.
:D

@ Aspidites

Do in believe things can evolve? Sure. I see it in the common cold. We have huge outbreaks when a certain strain is immune to medication.

Do I believe that it could be possible that the Earth was a big fiery ball that cooled and rain fell upon the big cooled space rock and made oceans that eventually sprouted some sort of single celled organism that evolved and spawned and evolved ad spawned and evolved... and so on until we now have complex human beings capable of thought and reason? Sure... IF I believed that things tend to get better with time if left alone. But I don't. I believe things get worse with time if left alone. Entropy if you will

To reason that things evolved and got better and now they are getting worse, SOME evolutionists reason that the universe in like a heartbeat. The big bang occurred and everything was getting better as it spread out. But now it's between phases and some of it is starting to collapse. Everything starts to decay and breakdown and collapse. Then, it will condense into that ultra heavy mass again and explode. Over and over and over. Now this idea is pretty feasible in my eyes. But that still doesn't answer the time/matter question for me.

BTW, I never said I was a creationist. There is one fatal flaw to creationism... if the universe isn't millions of years old... how can I see a star millions of light years away?

I believe in God yes. I believe there's alot that isn't mentioned in the Bible about Creation. Some Christians believe God made the universe and evolution is responsible for life and that Genesis 1 is a metaphor. Some believe Genesis 1 is literal. I am somewhat agnostic on this point and merely believe one cannot know.

It honestly bugs me that many Christians believe the majority of Revelation is metaphors, but Genesis cannot be. I'm not saying it is, just that most Christians aren't open minded.

So, if I believe God could have made matter and evolution followed, then why don't I believe in evolution? Because I don't see how a single cell organism can have mutations to the point where we have humans today. I see evolution just fine, but the idea that a single celled organism can evolve over time and gain limbs and eyes and hair and such seems a little off to me because the creatures in between would be disadvantaged as their not-fully functional "limbs" and other features would get in the way and they would become extinct due to an inability to survive. I know that doesn't make much sense, but I'm not sure how to put it. It's like lets say this water organism grows fins, ok it swims. But as it grows legs, these limbs start getting bigger and heavier but not yet functional causing it not to swim as well as before and the limbless creatures would rule. So any creatures with the limb mutation would die.

Now you're getting into the realms of ridiculous Brad. I've seen you do this in other threads. The implication was obvious, whether you admit that or not.

I didn't say anything was caused by magic, voodoo or whatever non-explanations you seem to be dreaming up from misreading my posts.
You're arguing that the things you're experiencing can't be explained with scientific reasoning. The terms "magic" and "voodoo" were a polite way of calling this bull****.

And you only quoted a small part of it this time.
:hmm:
I'll address this seperately in my next post :)

I'm saying no one seems to be measuring them. Do you disagree with that?
If they are, I haven't seen the data.

I'm saying the complete live experience is not captured by typical recordings nor is it immune to playback foibles. Disagree?

This is a continuation of your previous strawman and I've already addressed this point. We're not talking about the recorded medium. The topic is irrelevant.

I'm saying your requested measurements could have very little bearing OVERALL on instrument construction.
Possibly. My question is whether it has ANY bearing.

Read the words yet again. If you still don't get it let's leave it be. Maybe religion is a better tangent to run with after all.
:D

I believe we've got a case of the pot calling the kettle black here :p
