I Have Found Peace Within "The Funk"
Being a child from the 60's and 70's I was born within this obscure genre called "Funk".
Unfortunately with the great grooves of "Rock and Roll" ,"Jazz" and other great music at the time, I moved on through the 80's and 90' subconsciously into other genres......leaving my true love of this great music behind.
I am here now to tell you all my "Bassist Brothers and Sisters (and yes, other musicians to)" I have been "Reborn"!! ....And need you to join me in the ways of "Funkyness" .......please show us all the "Funk" that is inside us all.
Of course, I will start this off with a little something by "Kool and the Gang"......whatcha got??
Preach it brother. I'm right there with you. I went through the rock years in rock bands and the punk years in punk bands and now I have started my own 8 piece classic MoTown/Soul band. Here is my contribution to the thread. Maceo Parker along with Fred Wesley

It may ruffle some feathers for me to say it, but I love that era of funk because bass players were funky without every tune turning into a thousand note a minute sonically saturated slapwank. Very musical and melodic and funky with space between notes and everything. Yum.
