I have joined the Alembic family.

Well, I was scanning the eBay basses tonight and came across a 1998 Alembic Epic bass. I have been looking at these basses for the past several months and could not resist the $1,350.00 "Buy It Now" price.

I can not wait to check it out.

(I had read some forums about conterfeit Alembic's, I hope that this is the real deal. I read Alembic on the pickups).

enjoy... though i hate to tell you... theres a 900 dollar epic just like that that was converted to fretless on the tb classifieds, dont know if it sold yet... and it was a pro defret... it looked like that anyway... i own a 5 string spoiler... killer basses for sure... and unique looks each and every one of them.

Welcome to the club. I like Epics. That's a pretty one and at a very reasonable price (you'll always find something later for $2-300 less, but you got it in the "nice deal" range). If you two warm up to each other, it could be a long term relationship. You ain't kidding about Alembic obsession. I happened into an Epic last year, and ended up buying an F-1x. I still have an interest in upgrading my Epic and and unsafe interest in acquiring either a) Jazz activators (Alembic's take on the Jazz pickups) or an honest to goodness b) Alembic Jazz Bass.

Two words, buy used.

Ah, nice bass! I passed on an Epic just like that one about ten years ago in a local shop, and it's definitely my biggest bass-related regret to this day. If you're even slightly worried about any part of the bass having been replaced, you should contact Alembic directly. I hear they're great to deal with and extremely helpful even if you're not the original order.

I had a chance to trade an Alembic Persuader 5 for an Epic 6 at one point- it probably would have been a keeper in that the balance, string spacing, and scale length were the ONLY issues with the Persuader...

long story short: congrats on an awesome bass that they aren't making any more of!
